Gloom ~ Bruiser ~ Turkeys ~ Flory Ornstein ~ Georgia Sue ~ Life Alert ~ Grants Pass High School ~ Easy Chicken Bake ~ Chocolate Covered Anything Day

Good 38º dark foggy morning. Sigh.................

Yesterday, again, the fog hung around and it was the first time we didn't have sun in the afternoon. GLOOM GLOOM

While taking the picture, here came Bruiser running....

And the turkeys were parading around....

I am so saddened. A friend, Flory Ornstein (wife of retired LASD Neil) passed away Thursday. She was such a super nice gal and I was so happy I got to know her. RIP Flory
This was at the LASD Roundup in Laughlin, 2014.

And another pal, Georgia Sue, BFF of my friend Trish, had a couple strokes Thursday and is in the hospital. With her Rottie, Poppy:
Get well soon, GS!! xo

Because of what happened to my friend Georgia Sue I finally got something to help me if needed. I got Life Alert. If you push the button on your wrist or pendent http://www.lifealert.com/ it connects with their 911 dispatchers. It also has GPS if you are away from home so you can be located. They also have home intrusion protection. All sounds good to me. They have my emergency numbers and medical information. It will be here Tuesday and then a tech will come over and set it up.

Their main office is in Encino California and that's also where their dispatchers are. I had the best conversation with their rep, Andrew. Thanks Andy Pandy!

This is interesting.... Grants Pass High School 1910. My grandson Tucker goes there. (Show him, Brian!)

and the school today...

Want another easy peasy dinner casserole? This one is perfect ...
Easy Chicken Bake

2 10.5 oz cans cream of chicken soup, undiluted
1 cup milk
1/2 t. dried thyme
1/2 t. salt
1/4 t. black pepper
1 16oz pkg frozen chopped mixed vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots)
3 cups shredded cooked rotisserie chicken
1 12oz can refrigerated biscuits, each one cut into quarters
2 T. melted butter
1. Preheat oven to 375º.
2. Coat 9x13 pan with cooking spray
3. In bowl mix soup, milk, and spices. Stir in vegetables and chicken and put in baking dish.
4. Bake 15 minutes, then remove from oven.
5. In bowl combine the cut up biscuits and butter and toss to evenly coat.
6. Arrange biscuits on top of the chicken veggie mixture and bake 15-18 minutes more, until biscuits are golden and casserole is bubbly.
Use different vegetables if you prefer ... green beans, peas, corn, red/green/yellow bell peppers, artichoke hearts, olives, beets, celery, Brussels sprouts, mushrooms, shallots, yams, and even jalapeños ... whatever is your fancy.

My dinner was reruns, then chair, wine, and TV.....
NYPD Blue, NCIS LA & Miami, and the "edited" news!

All I know. Nuff said. Happy Saturday. Ciao.

National Chocolate Covered Anything Day

Oh be still my heart!!!!
Chocolaholics rejoice! Today is National Chocolate Covered Anything Day.
Its a great day to indulge, binge, "pig out", and otherwise consume to excess, your favorite food....chocolate. We believe the timing of this day, during the holiday season, couldn't be better.
Today, we get to enjoy our beloved chocolate by covering something...just about anything... in a generous amount of chocolate. Pour, spread, or drizzle chocolate over cakes, cupcakes, pies, pancakes or waffles, nuts, raisins, even ants (yes, some people actually eat chocolate covered ants!). We will let you decide what is too extreme, and how much is too much, if any.
As chocoloaholics, we shouldn't need any added incentive to enjoy our chocolate. In the giving spirit of the holiday season, make sure to give or share some of your favorite chocolate covered treats today.

Happy National Chocolate Covered Anything Day!!!!
