211 Code ~ Shirley Temple ~ WD-40 ~ Sue's Lazy Day Stuffed Cabbage ~ Old Photos

Good 45º probably gonna be another glooming day morning. Sun came out for about 5 minutes yesterday. More rain expected through the end of this week. 30% today and 100% through Saturday. No point in going to the car wash!

Yes, 211 is a radio code in CA and a penal code section for armed robbery. A "robbery" is different from a "burglary" in that a robbery is the felonious taking of property in the possession of another, from his person or immediate presence, and against his will, accomplished by means of force or fear.  In the bank where I worked we had a silent alarm button under the counter. So, there is 211A (audible alarm) or 211S (silent).  211JO (just occurred). 211 now.

Sadly Shirley Temple Black died last night about 11pm. She was 85. Sigh..... You were a rare talent and a wonderful person. RIP Shirley!

Here is the WD-40 tips for the week...
  • Lubricate hinges on stubborn refrigerator doors
  • Unclog showerheads
  • Protect tools from rusting
  • Un-stick plastic light dimmer switches

Here is another favorite recipe of mine. Cabbage rolls are so good but work. This is Sue's Lazy Day Stuffed Cabbage

1 head cabbage, chopped
1 cup rice, cooked. (About 2½ cups when cooked)
1 - 1½ pounds ground pork
1 large onion, chopped
2 cans tomato soup
Brown meat and onion. In a 4 qt casserole layer the cabbage, rice, meat alternately 2 or 3 times, starting and ending with cabbage.

Top with undiluted soup that has been mixed smooth in a bowl. Bake at 350º for an hour, or until hot and cabbage is soft. Serve with mashed potatoes.

Yesterday was spent going through old photo albums and sorting out pictures, scanning photos, and figuring out who gets what. Here's one of our dear Los Angeles County Sheriff, Sherman Block and me about 1988.... He was such a special man and one who really cared about his deputies!  (Unlike that piece of work that just retired!)

.... and Jerry and I "dancing" at the Chili Cook-off. LOL

What fun old pictures are... and how motivating to lose weight, get back in shape, etc!!!!!
