(Boy, if that little guy doesn't make you yawn!) Gadz I did exciting stuff... emptied a bag of cracked corn into a can on the porch, did laundry, watered all the plants on the front porch, let the dogs out, let the dogs in, organized photos on my external hard drive, let the dogs out, let the dogs in, played solitaire. See...
I stripped all the cooked artichokes. Had a HUGE trash bag full of leaves and chokes. There weren't that many good ones, so I didn't can them, just refrigerated them in olive oil and lemon juice. Will eat them on salads.

Here is my variation on Chicken Piccata....
2 boneless/skinless chicken breasts
olive oil
3-4 anchovies (now settle down, you won't taste them! but they impart a flavor that is amazing.)
1 can artichoke hearts- quartered and drained
1 cup radiatorre pasta (or shells or any small pasta) cooked and drained
1 cup sour cream (use fat free)
1/2 cup lemon juice
2 t. capers
1/4 c. white wine (drink some while you cook!)
2 pats of butter
garlic cloves (pre-cooked in boiling water until soft)
Drizzle olive oil in frying pan, heat to med, add 3-4 anchovies and cook, stirring until anchovies are melted into the oil. Pre season chicken with salt and pepper and dredge in flour, shaking off excess. Add chicken to pan and sauté until browned. Remove to warm plate. Deglaze pan with wine. Add 1/2 cup lemon juice and 2 pats of butter. Stir. Add sour cream, artichoke hearts, pasta, garlic cloves, and capers. Return chicken to pan, place lid on, and cook for 5 minutes. Serve and be wowed!

Retired LASD member, Ray and his wife saved this baby deer. They said they have deer fencing all around their property but this little guy managed to squeeze inside and thanks to Ray's wife they managed to get her back to mom. Too cute for words....
Historically this date.....
1798 – The United States Marine Corps is re-established; they had been disbanded after the American Revolutionary War.
OMG, he's still alive!!!! Haven't heard about him in YEARS! And we (teen girls) were all in love with him. He's GAY! Dang.

I had some hamburger in the fridge... and after asking for my friend Cyndi's recipe for Albondigas Soup because 'Gator' asked, I thought... hmmmm, make some soup. I did. On the blog tomorrow or the next day. OMG, good! Of course I don't follow recipes, so this one is different. The Great Albondigas Experiment!
... .Cool, on Jen's birthday. Neat, huh, Brian?
1804 – A duel occurs in which the Vice President of the United States Aaron Burr mortally wounds former Secretary of the Treasury Alexander Hamilton.
... Oh joy, for all the misery that town has caused so many!
1921 – Former U.S. President William Howard Taft is sworn in as 10th Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, becoming the only person to ever be both President and Chief Justice.
1979 – America's first space station, Skylab, is destroyed as it re-enters the Earth's atmosphere over the Indian Ocean.
And births this date include...
I did my high school "senior paper" or Mr. Adams. Interesting man.
... a very short but interesting story! Unimaginable to be conjoined for all those years!
OMG, what a fascinating place the Carlsbad Caverns are! Should be on everyone's bucket list!

Watched the Jaycee Dugard interview last night.
That girl is truly amazing after the torture she went through and to be able to speak of it all and with clarity and she has purpose and is a true survivor. She absolutely fascinates me. Complaining about my 'boring' day just doesn't get it.

I also watched one of my favorite shows, Flashpoint.
All Canadian actors, set in Toronto, about an elite police tactical unit. But, one of the writers must have had a brain fade... Ed, played by Hugh Dillon, gets angry with a psych doc that has been interviewing the team and he takes his gun, unloads it and slams it onto the table in front of the doc. Then............. in full police uniform he jumps into his POV and heads to the hospital where his wife is in labor. Has a confrontation with a driver, so standing there without a weapon in uniform, he is shot 7 times. Oh come on. POV? Uniform? No gun? Couldn't grasp the thought pattern here with the writers. Obviously, they are not cops, never have been. But as I learned when Sandy's husband Jerome wrote the movie 'Dead Bang' (with Don Johnson)
and Sandy and I went to the studio to see the rough cut.... in the film there was a party, homicide party (LASD homicide has a bar made from a coffin.... interesting) and there was a deputy in uniform at this party, drinking adult beverages. I talked to the assistant director after the showing and said, "Deputies don't party in uniform. They don't drink in uniform!" He asked me how many were on our department, I said, "Ten thousand sworn" and he laughed and said, "I don't care, the story stays, there are millions who will see this movie." Ergo, the brain of Hollywood. Untruths are more likely to be on film than truths.
