Good 46º almost 10º cooler than yesterday morning. Clear and sunny.
Yesterday morning after finishing my blog, feeding dog and cat, eating
breakfast, doing dishes, and a couple other things... I mowed the front and back
lawns and did some minor weed-eating. I was so THRILLED it was cool, 74º, with a
breeze. HEAVEN! In a couple hours it was 83º.

Mowing the back is a lot harder since a portion of the slope has fallen
down towards the creek. Scary to mow, as the lawnmower wants to tip and toss me
into the creek! By 4pm it was 90º.
While I was mowing I found 4 feathers. I love feathers and have been
collecting them for years. I know my sis made sure I'd find them or Jerry. So
pretty:
I have made a few wreaths out of feathers... (looking up from my
desk)
Mostly turkey feathers and peacock feather and a pheasant feather...
Today is Throw Back Thursday. Here is my Dad with me, with Brian, and with
Kristen. Miss you Daddy!!!!
Talked to Kristen yesterday re her surgery on Friday. She will work one
more day. School is out but she's the school secretary and has a pile of stuff
to finish.
I can't believe it's been two years since Brian's Atlas died. He was the
SWEETEST dog ever! Miss you At-ta-less (as Jack called him!) xooxo

Corn On The Cob Day
Millions of people love sweet corn on the cob. As summer nears, we
can't wait to bring out the salt and pepper, and boil, steam or grill some
fresh, sweet, corn on the cob.
National Corn on the Cob Day encourages us to celebrate and enjoy
this tasty summer time treat.
Plainview, Minnesota celebrates National Corn on the Cob Day in a big
way. They hold a parade and other festivities.

Corn originated in Mexico. It dates back to about 9,000 BC.
To
celebrate National Corn on the Cob Day, boil, steam ,or grill it for dinner!
Tip: Sweet Corn loses its sweetness rapidly. Home
gardeners know to pick it just before it is cooked. When buying sweet corn at a
store or farm market, make sure it is fresh picked.
Here's
my hints .... put some vinegar (depending how much water.. 1/3-1/2 cup) in the
water you boil the corn in. It keeps it from getting mushy. Stays crispy. Won't
taste like vinegar! Don't boil it very long. 3-4 minutes tops. Never add salt to
the water, it makes the corn tough. Cook with lid on.
Then
instead of slathering it with butter, be creative and use mayonnaise, siracha
mayonnaise, use mayo and sprinkle on Parmesan cheese, mix mayonnaise with queso
fresco cheese and chili powder, season some mayonnaise with pesto or
wasabi powder, use ranch dressing, jalapeño jelly, brush on melted butter but
season it first with garlic salt or taco seasoning or chili powder. Be creative.
You will LOVE it!
