Good 52º cloudy morning. Cloudy but unlikely rain.
Clouds yesterday... and the air was clear. Nice! We topped at
93º.
Happy Throw Back Thursday.....
1989, Brian and I took a trip to Tahoe to see my sister. This
was just prior to his enlistment in the Marine Corps. We were driving along
listening to the World Series between the Oakland As and the SF Giants and the
radio went dead! It was the Loma Prieta earthquake. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1989_Loma_Prieta_earthquake
That World Series was also called the "Earthquake Series". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1989_World_Series
Got to my sister's and she was jumping around on the porch
saying, "We had an earthquake! We had an earthquake!" My sister Marion and
Brian:
Her son Andy was at the stadium and said the upper levels
started swinging back and forth. Very scary!!!
Yesterday I went into GP to Taprock to have lunch with Karen
"Sugar Bear" Baertschiger and her pals from the school district. She worked
there and some of the women had been teachers or volunteers or school
secretaries. All super nice and fun. We were celebrating Karen's belated,
September 4th, birthday.
I had a bacon/avocado sandwich and cottage
cheese....
.... and I think most of use had chardonnay!
Then to the optometrist's to get the news lenses for my
glasses. One pair didn't come in, next week, but the ones for my regular glasses
did. OMGOSH, what a difference. So much more clear!!! Yes!!!

Also yesterday our US Congressman Greg Walden and Senator Steve Daines, senator from Montana, and some others had a press conference in regards to the US Dept of Forestry's miss-management of Federal lands in our state and other states. At his office's request I sent him some of the photos I took of the smoke here in the Rogue Valley. He had them enlarged and used them at the press conference...
To the right of the podium are my photos, the second and third
ones... I feel very honored.
This was Walden's post: "Just wrapped up a press conference
with U.S. Forest Service Chief Tony
Tooke, Senator Steve Daines, and Congresswoman Cathy McMorris
Rodgers to call for action on forest management reform. We're united in this
effort to help prevent catastrophic fires form raging across Oregon and
throughout the West."
All I know. Nuff said. Happy Throw Back Thursday.
Ciao.
