Good 52º. Should only be in the 80ºs until next weekend. We
shall see..............
Yesterday at noon it was 84º and my weather station said rain and
thunder... never happened.
Squirrel trap Thursday...
Squirrel traps Friday...
And then........................ no squirrel, but :
So, Brian caught a skunk Thursday and one landed in this trap yesterday!
Jack showed up in the afternoon and off they went. He will bring more traps
next week.
When I met Edda GloW and John at the Elks I word this
shirt...
I had first gone to Ace and it made ALL the guys working and Dori smile and
laugh! The wine gang at the Elks smiled and laughed too! See, you can't hide
that secret!
Yesterday I fixed a "Greek" meal. I bought the Freekah at
Grocery Outlet. Never had seen "young green roasted cracked wheat" before.
Sounded interesting. Sort of like bulgur wheat. These Dolmas are grape leaves
wrapped around rice and a little tangy. Mmmmmmm.....
(BTW, that's not vodka in the Ketel One bottle, I put white vinegar in it!)
The Freekah comes from Turkey. I put it in my rice cooker with some grated
garlic, diced tomatoes, and capers. When it was done I stirred in some
mozzarella and some white/yellow cheese blend.
GREAT meal!!!! Next time I cook it I will add in some chicken or some tuna
or salmon. Extremely healthy... LOTS of fiber.
Speaking of Ace..... I was watching the news and they announced this month's winner of the trip/one night stay/ at the coast. The winner was Ace's own Big Dan! (sorry, pictures off the TV are not my forté)
CONGRATULATIONS DAN!!!

August 30th
During
eleven out of the twelve months of the year, we enjoy a wide range of holidays.
When we get to August, there is a major shortage of big holidays to celebrate.
Perhaps that is why many Europeans take the month of August off for
vacation.
Perhaps
it as just as well that there are no big holidays to compete with National
Marshmallow Toasting Day. After all, how could any holiday compare with this
day!?!
Enjoy
today or tonight by a campfire or bonfire, toasting a big, soft, sticky and
sweet marshmallow, or two, or three, or….. Summer would not be the same without
a campfire and this great campfire treat. Summer is short. Summer is good. Let's
enjoy it while it is still here. Toast a marshmallow and forget about everything
else.
And,
don't forget to make a few S'mores. The recipe is below.
S'mores Recipe:
Ingredients:
- Chocolate candy bar
- Honey Graham Crackers
- Marshmallows
Instructions:
- Break off a square of Graham cracker
- Add a piece of Chocolate.
- Toast a big marshmallow over the campfire.
- Add the hot marshmallow.
- Top it with another graham Cracker.
- Eat , savor and enjoy!
Note:
You can make S'mores in the microwave. Just put them together and pop them into
the microwave on high for 15 to 20 seconds.
Or
make a S'mores Pie!
