Good 33º raining morning. Of course it's raining! I had my truck washed
yesterday...
All this after I had breakfast... I sauteéd some thawed peas and some
mushrooms, added 2 eggs, stirred it all up and topped it with cheese. GOOD~!
Now, I know some people in my circle of family and friends who don't like peas.
Don't get your shorts in a knot, just don't make this dish! No gagging sounds
are allowed, Jeannie!
I posted a link re a chicken with a broken leg and it had surgery ... this
is what Dom has posted since,
"Also, I went to take care of the farm this morning and Henrietta was
standing on her good leg in her cage, eating bird feed like NBD. Good chicken."
(NBD=no big deal)
FYI, Pacific Power guy was here yesterday to let me know the pole that has
the broken cross arms and the woodpecker hole/nest will be replaced Thursday.
So, I will be without power most of the day. I will lay in a supply of wood on
my porch so I can keep a fire going in the wood stove. PLEASE keep me off your
email lists starting this afternoon through tomorrow. Some of you send 10-15
emails at a time and it will be overwhelming. Thanks.
Costco was on the agenda yesterday. I waited until after the ice had melted
for the most part. Stopped at Cash & Carry for Uncle Ben's Mexican Infused
Rice (addicted to it!) for me and Jeannie. Then to Costco. Ran into Dee and
Kathy there. We had a nice chat.
The food demos are always fun. I tasted "Pupusas"
which is a traditional Salvadoran dish made of thick handmade tortilla
(made using masa de maiz, a flour dough used in Latin American cuisine) that was
filled with cheese.
These were so good I bought some. I told Dee and Kathy about them and Dee
tried them and bought some too! They are made by Del Real Foods in Mira Loma,
CA. You can open them up, add other things... meat ect... or make the 'Curtido'
a blend of cabbage, carrots, onions, and peppers and serve on top. Here is the
recipe:
On the way home I went into Grants Pass to take Brian the requested new dog
beds for Atlas. He's like Maggie and likes the beds stacked up....so he got two
snuggy soft new ones. He will be a happy boy!
Brian had a present for me, a little book titled "iPad for Dummies" !!! I need that!
Got the car washed and back to the
old homestead. There were two trucks at my gate. They were a "locator" company.
I got out of my car and asked them why there were here. The power company guys
had been here and let them in the gate. I see on the pole there is some spray
painting and on the ground as well. They said they were here to locate the power
lines and the phone lines. DUH...they are on the pole! I don't get that part.
