HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARINES!
236 Years of service to our country.
Semper Fi!
"The motto of the Marine Corps is Semper Fidelis, Latin
for "always faithful" .Until 1871 it was "First to Fight", a motto that still applies. Through the years, Marines have shortened it to Semper Fi, and "Semper Fi, Mac" is the universal Marine Greeting." |
And not to leave out the BAMS, Happy Birthday to all lady Marines as well! Don't think you'd be called "ladies" if you were Marines, but you know what I mean.
The United States Marine Corps adopted the motto Semper Fidelis in 1883, on the initiative of Colonel Charles McCawley (January 29, 1827 – October 13, 1891), the 8th Commandant of the Marine Corps.[15]
There were three mottos prior to Semper Fidelis including "Fortitudine" (meaning "with courage") antedating the War of 1812, "Per Mare, Per Terram" ("by sea, by land"; presumably inherited from the British Royal Marines, whose motto it already was), and, up until 1843, there was also the motto "To the Shores of Tripoli". "Semper fidelis" signifies the dedication and loyalty that individual Marines have for "Corps and Country", even after leaving service.

On the United States Marine Corps Seal, the eagle of the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor emblem holds a ribbon emblazoned "Semper Fidelis".
The US Air Force Chief-of-Staff would never be called -- Airman
The Chief-of-Naval Operations would never be called -- Sailor
The Commanding General of The US Army would never be called -- Soldier
BUT the Commandant of the Marine Corps would be proud to be called -- Marine

Boo hoo.... he WAS so good looking! :o(
I cooked a crockpot chicken for Maggie yesterday and experimented with putting in with the chicken an artichoke cut in half (choke removed), and put down in the bottom with the chicken so it would cook in the juices. Came out wonderful. The chicken juices made it extra good. Chicken cooked on high for 6 hours.
But, dinner..................... ahhhh....... crab dip with veggies ..
First remove the meat from the crab, set aside. In the food processor put a brick of cream cheese, 3/4 cup mayonnaise, 1 T. lemon juice, 1 T. Dijon mustard, 1 T. olive oil, sea salt, pepper and blend well. Put into large bowl, stir in fresh snipped chives.
Stir in the crab and refrigerate until ready to serve.

All I know. Nuff said. Happy Thursday. Ciao.
