Good 43 º morning. Foggy.
Looks like today may be dry for a change.
Yesterday my first effort was a yearly appointment with my cardiologist, Dr. Brian Morrison....
Such a great guy (and very handsome too)!
The dreaded exam room....
His assistant, Nicky, checked my vitals and gave me
an EKG.
I answered all the standard questions, "No. No. No. No. No. No. No. and No."
Doc came in and checked my heart. He listened to heart, neck, and stomach, listening for signs of atheromatous plaque buildup.
The bottom line is that my EKG was great, heart sounds great, no signs of plaque buildup, and my blood pressure was perfect! Whoooooo hoooooo. I was sort of down in the dumps heading over there, concerns for Maggie and Harley presently, so didn't think I'd have such a good outcome. Well, that perked me right up!
After chatting a bit and hugging Dr. Brian goodbye (for another year) I headed to Merle Norman. Needed some makeup. It was just 9:30 so had to wait half and hour. I went next door to Harry and David...
I bought several items.... and had some of their great coffee.
This is a favorite store of most who live in the area. Oh, by the way, this is an "unauthorized" photo! I was informed of this by a clerk just after I took it. I'm not using it for evil purposes, just showing you a place that is a joy of discovery to shop! Then to even make my day better, the checker said that since they are in restructuring and not advertising in local papers, they would send me info via email. And since my email wasn't on file with them and I gave them my email address, I got a FREE pie!
It's apple/cranberry. OOOOOHHHH so good! Oh my.
THEN.... be still my heart, since I am over 60 on every Tuesday I get a 10% discount. Such a deal I got today!
Here is my loot from H&D:
L to R top: live basil (oh boy, kitchen smells heavenly!), sweet
potato brownie mix (no cholesterol, no gluten, no anything bad), caramelized onion/feta/garlic foccacia, tomato/garlic foccacia.
L to R front: lemon mojito green tea, raspberry Danish, sticky red rice from Philippines, purple barley, and black rye bread....
and the pie! I took the pie to Frank and Cindy's and had
her cut out a couple of large pieces for them and today
will take some to Patty and Cliff. See Dave and Pat,
if you had been home and not in the Arizona desert,
you could have had some too!
You can see the mill on the right that recently re-opened.
Two of my neighbors .. Joey and Frank work there as
well as Mike from Napa.
In Ray's I ran into Leah, my hair salon sweetheart, and Karla, asst mgr.
Then Dan from Ace walked in,
Noel from the Post Office....
when I left John (fixed my ac/heater yesterday) was there!
I checked out the cooked chickens...
and the raw ones...
and got one to cook and hamburger
to try and tempt Maggie!
Stopping in the beauty shop to give Leah her present. Her birthday is today and she's hopefully off celebrating!
Historically this date....
1842 – The first documented discovery of gold in California occurs at Rancho San Francisco, six years before the California Gold Rush.
Jan and Ben Kundert were married in 1980 - Jan a cousin of Brian and Kristen's.... HAPPY ANNIVERSARY kids!!!
And births this date include....
.... and four of my friends celebrate their birthdays today....
Leah (of course!), Wendy on Catalina Island, Virginia my dear neighbor from Temple City, and Mr. Ike, retired LASD Homicide!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY all of you Pisces!
So, after shopping yesterday I stopped for gas. OMG. Do I have to mortgage the house???
Funny, the diesel price is 415, which in our
code book 415 means 'disturbance'. The price of diesel is very disturbing! :-(
I think we are trying to catch up with Collifornia!
All I know. House cleaning and tossing stuff in the Goodwill box...
Happy Wednesday, Hump Day!
Ciao.

OMG, my mouth is watering!
My niece Nancy said her hubby, Dan,
was going to make her crab and
spaghetti for her birthday (yesterday).
Sounds like a plan for tonight. I do
have a can of crab I got at Costco!
A nice white sauce with lemon and
add the crab... pour over hot
linguini..... OH MY!
