Good 44ยบ cloudy 'chance of rain' morning.
Yesterday was another long day of working on calendars. Foggy
and cloudy most of the day.

Yesterday Bill and Jeannie were in Medford and stopped to
munch at Lobster House. She LOVES their Cheddar Bay Biscuits.. as do I. Here are
two copycat recipes ... SO easy!

National Repeal Day
In
1919, the 18th Amendment to the United States Constitution was passed by
Congress, making it against the law to manufacture, sell or transport
“intoxicating liquors for beverage purposes” in America. During the same year,
Congress also passed the Volstead Act, which provided for the enforcement
of Prohibition, despite
President Woodrow Wilson’s veto. While thousands of bootleggers stills were
destroyed, organize crime flourished. After 13 dry years, prohibition in America
ended on this day in 1933 when the 21st Amendment to the United States
Constitution was passed and ratified, repealing the 18th Amendment.
In
honor of National Repeal Day, why not enjoy a
tasting brew or festive cocktail with a few friends, co-workers or special
someone and celebrate the constitution and the end of the Prohibition era?

hundred years ago, 1960's, when I worked for the Yellow Pages downtown Los
Angeles the building at one time had a speakeasy on the top floor. There was a
secret elevator that went from about the 3rd floor, well disguised, to the top
to carry the people and the booze. Here is what the building looks like now...
Westmorland and Beverly Blvd... close to Vermont. Where it says Public Storage
it used to say Yellow Pages.... it was visible from the Hollywood Freeway.
