Good 43º clear morning. Hit 83º yesterday!!!
Yesterday the golf card guy, Daryl from Absolute Golf
Cars, came and got mine to fix. A friend who has a golf cart said it's gonna
cost me about $600. Golf cart returned about 5pm all fixed. New batteries,
mirror attached, and new latches on bed. Yes, close to $600 but slightly more...
groan..
Super nice guy. He LOVED Dude! He knows someone who was on our LASD but the
name was not familiar to me. I explained there were only 10,000 sworn personnel
when I worked there!
Yesterday I also got a hold of the pest control people, and having them out
to rebait the ground squirrel traps, remove any remnants of previous critters,
and take care of a fly problem. I think where the bait box is under the house,
something might be dead under there! Bathroom filled with flies! Odd
smell.
Then talked to DirecTV. What a pain. I so hate talking to the robot phone
person! Finally a real person, Southern drawl big time, in Mississippi! A tech
will be out today to assess the problem and fix it!
First thing in the morning Dude Bruise and I went for a short walk.
Actually Dude headed for the trees and his "thing" he does. Bruise stayed with
me...
Then later Bruiser caught a little bird. I rescued it and put it slightly
under a dog blanket I keep in the carport for taking Dude on rides... Poor
little guy. Scared!
I went back about an hour later and he had pooped and was gone! YEAH!
THEN........................ when I came home from the store there was another
baby birdie Bruiser had traumatized and was watching. I picked him up, took him
out back, set him on a soft glove in a dish on top of the upright freezer. Went
back in an hour and watched as he flew away! Sigh. I guess sometimes they are
not injured but SCARED. Resting helps.
While I was in town I took some things to the senior center that they were
happy to get. Also took a knife set, "I'm A Yankee Doodle Dandy" sign, and a
book to the RR thrift store.
Here's a yummy recipe
CHICKEN AVOCADO BURGERS
from Laughing Spatula
(from the cook:
- I usually cook these on a grill pan indoors, it helps keep the meat moist…but you can certainly grill these outdoors. Just be careful not to overcook.
- When mixing the avocados and forming the patties – go gently to keep the avocado chunks intact. Using a more firm Avocado will help as well.
- These will keep for several days in your fridge. I have frozen them as well, and the avocado holds up really great!)
Ingredients:
1 pound ground chicken
1 avocado (large ripe cut into chunks)
1 garlic clove, chopped
salt
pepper
Add all ingredients to large bowl and toss gently. Shape into desired size
patties and grill inside (on your George Forman Grill) or outside on the barbecue!

Dinner was a one pot creation.
I had the Quinoa & Brown Rice (from Costco), dehydrated carrots, tomato
dices, and green beans... sliced olives, sliced mushrooms, and chicken in
buffalo sauce... So, re-hydrated the veggies. 1/4 cup of each. Put some olive
oil in a pan, added the drained veggies, olives, mushrooms, and chicken. Sauteéd
and then added the quinoa/brown rice. It's already cooked and you can microwave
it or heat in a pan. I added in a little of the mushroom juice to help steam.
REALLY REALLY GOOD!!!!!
Bruiser is still asleep. He went outside when it was still light last
evening and didn't come back. I kept calling him. Went to bed, got up about 1:30
calling him again. Then decided to do it again at 1:45. Guess who was sitting on
the porch! OMG. I was such a worried nut case. He came in and happily got on the
bed. Then a little while later jumped down and now he's upstairs sleeping. Bad
boy making mom worry like that!!!!
All I know. Nuff said. Happy Tuesday. Ciao.
