Good 47ยบ drizzling cloudy morning. Rained hard last night. Started in afternoon on and off. Got almost 1/2" of the wet stuff. Looks like more
today..... See, getting my truck washed Sunday did the trick. Now it will get
wet and dirty. Darn!
Throw Back Thursday... Jerry on his restored (he did it) John Deere (which
is now owned by former Wilsonite Jon Harting. LOL, Jon owns a John!)
Last evening was interesting. On March 23rd I posted a story of lost
dogs..... a golden and a pitbull who showed up here. I called the numbers on the
dog tag and the owner's daughter showed up and got the dogs....
Koda is the golden.. well, he showed up again last night and with a different little
cutie pup... I called the first number on is tag and Sean showed up to get them.
He said the other dog belonged to his neighbor. We discussed several
neighborhood issues (idiot neighbor and shots fired in abundant numbers and some
in the middle of the night). Nice guy. Dogs home and I am relieved. Of course I
fed them some Beneful dry dog food and they had water. Dude was put in the house
before I let them in the yard. All worked out ok.
Slow Cooker Caramelized Onions
Here is a great idea. I'm thinking Leah, my hairdresser, put me onto this.
Only the recipe was to use a few pats of butter, this is better and lower in
calories. I cut up 3 onions that were starting to get old, a red one and two
white ones. Next time I will use 6 onions. Slice into thin strips. Put in slow
cooker, drizzle in olive oil. Toss well with tongs or a couple forks. Add salt
and pepper if you desire. Cook on low for 12 hours. I put mine on at 8:30pm so
they would be done when I got up and I could check them the last couple of hours
to make sure they weren't burning at all... As it was, with only three onions
they were done at 6:30 when I got up. I checked on line for recipes and found
Monica's :
Scroll down through Monica's blog for the Slow Cooker version. She cooked
her's on high but I cooked mine on low. She gives ideas what to do with them...
you can also; mix them in with scrambled eggs, toss with pasta and an Alfredo
sauce, top grilled steak/chicken/pork/fish, add to your steamed green beans or
broccoli, layer in bottom of pie crust for your quiche recipe, put on a
burger.
After I took them out of the slow cooker I tasted them. OMG! Soooooooooooo
good I wanted to eat the whole bowl full! You can put them in zip bags and
freeze them for later use. They should keep fine in the fridge for about 3-4
days.

Here is a blog of inspiration. Shirah is the daughter,
beautiful smart talented daughter, of one of our Jackson County Republican gals,
Sheila Foy, a past president of the group..... Shirah's adventures are above and
beyond. Being in Russia has given her a new perspective as to what she wants to
do with her life and to have FREEDOM! She's traveled the world. So many unique
places with photos. Fascinating.
PJ and Dave brought back from Az a neat shirt for me, some sheriff badge
earrings, and this play toy for Dude. Bruiser seems to like it best!
All I know. Happy TBT. Nuff said. Ciao.
