Good 50º dark cloudy windy morning. Predictions for 60% chance of rain today and 90% chance tomorrow.
Yesterday early the clouds started moving in and some of the sunshine was lost. But we topped at a warm 88º.
Here is a favorite recipe I put in my cookbook, from back in 1992...
Oriental Coleslaw
3/4 cup peanut oil
3/4 cup rice vinegar
6-10 dashes of Tabasco Pepper Sauce
1/2 t. ground black pepper
Mix all together and set aside. (a glass canning jar with lid is good for this)
2-4 packages slivered almonds
1/2 cup sesame seeds (cheaper in the Mexican food isle)
Toast the almonds and sesame seeds on a cookie sheet at 350º for 5-10 minutes until golden brown. Watch carefully so they don't burn. Cool.
1 pkg Top Raman noodles, broken up small, do not cook, add to nuts and seeds and set aside to add to salad at the very last.
Shred one head of cabbage. Rinse and drain well. Chop one bunch green onions and mix with cabbage.
Great for pot luck (double for large crowd). I transport the cabbage/onion mixture in a zip bag. Seeds/nuts/noodles in zip bag. Dressing in a jar. Take along a large bowl and salad tongs. To serve:
put cabbage in bowl, add crunchy stuff, shake and add dressing and mix and serve.

Ohhhhhh.... one of my most favorites! Especially at Lawry's Prime Rib, Beverly Hills! Prime rib, Yorkshire pudding, creamed spinach, mashed potatoes, creamy horseradish sauce. To dieeeeeee for....
Here is my foolproof way to cook prime rib, perfect every time:
Make a rub of salt and pepper and garlic and/or onion powder and or any other type of herb you like and you can even mix it with butter or olive oil .... rub onto roast. Put in roasting pan, turn oven to 550º. When oven is ready put in the roast and cook it 5 minutes for every pound for rare, 6 minutes per pound for medium. Then turn off the oven and DO NOT OPEN THE OVEN DOOR FOR 2 HOURS! Done to perfection.
