And our own Sal Esquivel, Oregon State Rep.. Republican...Medford. HAPPY
BIRTHDAY SAL!
Here is Sal working hard, as usual, with his wife Jan (our JCRW past
pres.)
Historically this date...
1536 – Anne Boleyn, the second wife
of Henry VIII of
England, is beheaded for adultery, treason, and incest.
1921 – The U.S.
Congress passes the Emergency Quota Act
establishing national quotas on immigration.
......how much good does that do? we're still giving perks, social
security, and tax relief to illegals! Grrrrrrrrrrrr
1950 – A barge containing munitions
destined for Pakistan explodes in the harbor
at South Amboy, New
Jersey, devastating the city.
1962 – A birthday salute to U.S.
President John F. Kennedy takes
place at Madison Square
Garden, New York City. The
highlight is Marilyn Monroe's rendition
of "Happy
Birthday".
****
One of the law's provisions was that persons traveling from one place to
another cannot be incarcerated for a firearms
offense in a state that has strict gun control laws if the traveler is just
passing through (short stops for food and gas) and the firearms and
ammunition are not immediately accessible, unloaded and, in the case of a
vehicle without a compartment separate from the driver’s compartment, in a
locked container.
An example of this would be that someone driving from Virginia to a competition in Vermont with a locked hard case containing an unloaded handgun and a box of ammunition in the trunk could not be prosecuted in New Jersey or New York City for illegal possession of a handgun provided that they did not stop in New Jersey or New York for an extended period of time.
However Washington D.C., New York, New Jersey, and several other states routinely ignore this provision; arresting, prosecuting, and imprisoning travelers who are complying with this federal law

And births this date include...
.... father of Peyton and the arrogant Eli!
Now, try and not drool over these.....
