Good (Burrrrr) 27º morning.
Frozen grape leaves....
I did some math on the wine I like to drink to see which was the most or
least expensive.... converting liters to ounces and militers to ounces was the
big chore. My regular chardonnay happens to be 15¢ more per 8oz than the one I
like from Trader Joe's. Interesting. And no, I don't go for the pricey variety,
I like to keep it simple!

So then comes this story from Terry Bonyea (LASD ret)...
Fishing- an Aviator’s
Story
The rain was pouring down and there was a big puddle in front of the
pub just outside the Air Force Base.
A ragged old Marine Aviator was standing near the edge with a fishing
rod, his line in the puddle.
A curious young Air Force fighter pilot came over to him and asked
what he was doing.
'Fishing,' the old guy simply said.
'Poor old fool,' the Air Force officer thought and he invited the
ragged old aviator into the pub for a drink.
As he felt he should start some conversation while they were sipping
their whisky, the haughty fighter pilot asked, "And how many have you
caught?'
'You're the eighth,' the old Marine answered.

Yesterday I took a trip into Grants Pass to take Brian and Jen
their anniversary present. They had just come back from the kid's swimming
lesson and stopped at the growers mart. Jen got salad fixin's and was busy
chopping and grating. I thought .."mmmmm, salad for dinner"! Brian opened the
gift while Jen was busy with the knife and grater...
Got them a king size plush duel control
electric blanket. Now that bed will be cozy when they climb in...
Happy campers!
Sami was being her cutsie self...
... and Tucker was showing me his fishing information he got at school from
the Department of Fish and Game..
How to fish.. what kinds of fish.. where to fish... how to tie knots for
fish hooks.... They will probably be over today to see if there are any fish in
my pond!
So, since Jen's salad looked good I came home and prepared one
for me... I had some Asian Chopped Salad Mix so added to that some baby spinach,
grated carrots, artichoke heart quarters, grape tomatoes, and some
mushrooms...
Do not rinse off mushrooms, take a towel and wipe off the dirt.. then store
the remainder in a paper bag in the fridge. That way they can breath and stay
fresh longer.
Then I sliced and sauteéd them. Raw is ok, but like them best crispy!
Everything went into a big bowl and was tossed well. Most went into a big
zip bag for later. The serving size was tossed with some Tzatziki Cucumber
dressing...
The dressing is Tzatziki Cucumber from Safeway.
(Tzatziki (Anglicised: /zɑːdˈziːki/; Greek: τζατζίκι [dzaˈdzici] or [dʒaˈdʒici])
is a Greek sauce served with grilled meats or as a dip.
Tzatziki is made of strained yogurt (usually from sheep or goat milk) mixed with cucumbers, garlic, salt, olive oil,
and sometimes lemon juice,
and dill or mint or parsley. Tzatziki is always served
cold.)
... and topped with cheese.....
OMGOOOOOD!!!!
All I know. Nuff said. Happy Sunday. Ciao.
