Good 53º looks like smoke out there morning. It has come back
into the valley. Blowing from the fires in No. Cal. Ick. Had one nice day ...
Sunday. Supposed to be 95º today. DOUBLE ICK!!!!
A year ago we had these fires...
and this year....
This is the California fire map:
Here is my granddaughter Alex (aka Jelly Bean) ... she has
been wearing braces for just about as long as she can remember... she got them
off yesterday...what a beauty! I love you Jelly Bean! xo
Next week she goes back to high school as a senior! OMG, where did that
time go???
Here she is at the old Helm's Bakery Building in Santa
Monica... shopping with her mom and Bobo.
Today's special birthday belongs to Pat Reardon, LASD ret. HEY PAT, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! I hope you have a GREAT DAY!!!! xo
PICTURE of the day.. I gots an um-bella and I is keepin'
dry.
Historically this date..
1918 – Women enlist in the United States
Marine Corps for the first time. Opha Mae Johnson is the
first woman to enlist. LOL, "BAMS" ! If that is the case then female deputies
should be called "BADS" !!!
1969 – The Apollo 11 astronauts are
released from a three-week quarantine to enjoy a ticker tape parade in
New York, New York. That
evening, at a state dinner in Los Angeles, California,
they are awarded the Presidential
Medal of Freedom by U.S.
President Richard Nixon.
2004 – Hurricane Charley, a
Category 4 storm, strikes Punta Gorda,
Florida and devastates the surrounding area.
And births this date include...
...do you realize that if Ho Chi Minh had married Don Ho he would have
been Ho Ho!
My electrician, Jake Wardel, was here yesterday afternoon. I had pulled the
plug of my 39 year old rice cooker out of the outlet on Friday evening and it sparked, electricity gone, plug
all black. Jake reset the breaker, took the outlet apart, and said the outlet
was fine it was the extra outlet thingy I had plugged into the outlet that was
the problem... threw it away!
Brian and Jeannie both said it was my old rice cooker that caused the problem and I should go and get a new one! Oh.....fuey..... that baby has cooked rice for me for so long. Jake said it wasn't the problem, but I just may go and look at the new ones and see. You know nothing I buy now would last 39 years! Got ours in Little Tokoyo in Los Angeles 1974.
Dinner was one of my fake crab soba noodle stir fry again. LOVE this!!!
Heated the crab and some carrots.... added in some chopped tomato and the
noodles.... then some baby spinach and garlic, stirred it all and heated
through. Added the sauce and some water and let it cook down then topped it with
grated white and yellow cheese.
YUMMMMMM!!!!
Today Jeannie and I will go to Wal-Mart and do the shopping for Casey in
Afghanistan and his buddies. I did get my particulate respirator masks yesterday
from Amazon. Will carry one in the car. Also got movies, Fairfield Road, and a
DVD that has 4 movies (a "movie-night marathon!) ... Bridal Fever (Delta Burke),
The Good Witch (Catherine Bell), For The Love of Grace (Chandra West) and Come
Dance At My Wedding (John Schneider) ... all Hallmark movies.
The stuff on TV hasn't flipped my skirt. Tried watching The Bridge...didn't
like it. Another one, Crossing Lines with Donald Sutherland, didn't like it
either. Do like Rizzoli and Isles. Angie Harmon is a police detective and her
sister is a medical examiner. Then there is King and Maxwell! Yes! Love that
show. Former Secret Service Agents (Jon Tenney and Rebecca Romijn) turn private
eyes. Jon is from The Closer show. He's King and she's Maxwell!!!
Happy Tuesday. Nuff said. Ciao.
