Mo' Rain! ~ Thursday Football ~ Dentist/Errands ~ Five Onion Soup

Good 53º raining morning. Heard it raining all night. More on the way. Gonna be some wet Homecoming games tonight~!! So far with this storm we've gotten 1¾" !!! Yippee. Heading for 2" then 3" .. then my dry seasonal creek will be a risin' !!!

Last night's football game was played hard!

Yesterday I went to the dentist. She (ha ha ha, her name is Susan!) pulled out the temporary fillings where the root canals were done and filled them permanently. Next is a crown fill on the crown and a new crown on the back tooth.

Joy.
BTW, Susan Wellman DDS is in Grants Pass for anyone looking for a good and VERY nice dentist. She previously was in Crescent City and now at Bright Now Dentistry. She's great.
Then it was errand time. Also, got a new cell phone. Brian got it for me. It's not the fancy schmancy kind, still a flip phone, but it works here in the boonies, where my other one did not! It's a US Cellular. So when I go around the property on my golf cart my phone with me and it will get reception! Then after errands I stopped at the Elk's Lodge and had a glass of wine. Zanita, the bar girl, was working. She's so nice and fun to talk to. Also Bill Jackson was there. He collects items of clothing for the vets over at the White City Hospital. He also raises dogs he sells. Nice conversation and nice wine!

Sickening Adam Henry~!
Here is one of my favorite recipes... made it numerous times...
Five Onion Soup

1/4 cup butter
1 leek chopped, white part only
1 yellow onion chopped
1 red onion chopped
2 shallots chopped
2 celery stalks chopped
1 garlic clove chopped
1/2 cup dry sherry
4 cups chicken stock
1 (12 oz) russet potato, peeled, cut into 1" pieces
croutons
Melt the butter in heavy Dutch oven over medium heat. Add next 7 ingredients and sauté until translucent (6-10 minutes). Add sherry, simmer until liquid evaporates (about 3 minutes). Add 4 cups chicken stock and potato. Simmer 20 minutes, until potato is very tender. Lightly pureé soup in blender or food processor in small batches. Season with salt and pepper. Bring back to simmer. Thin with more stock if desired. Serve with croutons.
If you like you can heat the broiler and take some small crusty toasted bread slices, top with cheese, broil until cheese melts and top each soup bowl with on.

All I know. Happy TGIF. Nuff said. Ciao.

National Bologna Day
(Mmmmmm.... I can taste it now! Drooling.....)

National Bologna Day is a full of baloney!
Properly spelled Bologna, it is sometimes spelled "Baloney". It is pronounced like the latter spelling. Bologna is a sausage. It's commonly used as a luncheon meat. Mom and kids know it well.
When it comes to bologna, there definitely is variety. There is what you and I would call regular Bologna, German Bologna, Beef Bologna, Kosher Bologna, and more. Depending upon the kind of Bologna, it could include pork, beef, chicken, and spices.
It's easy to enjoy National Bologna Day . Have a Bologna sandwich.  Try fried bologna. And, don't forget the mustard.
We certainly hope that at the end of National Bologna Day, that you are "full of Baloney"!
