Artoff Plumbing ~ Celine Dion ~ My Dad ~ Filet/Tots/Celery ~ Weekend At Hill-Liary's ~ Peanut Day

Good 40º clear sunny morning.

Yesterday my plumber, Mike Artoff, was here early.

He fixed the leaky kitchen faucet and the leak in the pipe outside and put a new filter at the top of the pasture in the pump house.....
Great plumber in this area... call Mike at 541-582-0853      Highly recommended!
Then Dude took a ride with me into town to run some errands. Wow, stayed cool, by 1pm it was only 77º! We topped at 84º.

Later while in my chair I was switching channels looking for news when I stopped on the Ellen Show channel. OMGOSH, I can't believe the UGLY outfit Celine Dion was wearing!!! WEDNESDAY THURSDAY FRIDAY...WHAT WAS SHE THINKING????

On this day in
1991 my Dad, Leslie Laney, passed away.   Daddy was 90 years old. Here is Daddy in 1917, he was 16, and joined the US Navy to fight in WWI. He sailed to France on the USS Amerika  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_America_(ID-3006) Yes, right spelling, it was later christened the USS America!  He was given an honorable discharge because of being underage.

Daddy in 1945 (just before or after I was born) with my sister Marion. Both of them are in Heaven (along with my Mom, Aunt, Grandmother and my Darling.) and so missed!

I must say, Daddy was a cool dresser!

National Peanut Day

National Peanut Day is the peanuttiest of days. Native to South America, the locals there couldn't keep this great nut to themselves. Actually, peanuts are not nuts. They are "legumes", like peas, beans, and lentils.
Peanuts are one of America's favorite snack foods. And, its more than a snack food. Peanuts are the main ingredient in peanut butter. Peanuts star in a variety of recipes, and is a topping for countless foods and desserts. Many Chinese recipes use peanuts in main menu items.
Peanuts once took the rap as a not so healthy food. More recent research suggests that peanuts can reduce cardiovascular disease and lowers triglycerides in the body. Peanuts are high in protein and fiber, and are now believed to help curb hunger, and therefore help in diet control.

Celebrate National Peanut Day by eating peanuts wherever and whenever during the day that you can. Eating peanut butter counts, too. Want to try something different (and peanutty, of course) ? Make your own (click here) Homemade Peanut Butter today.
