Good 34ยบ foggy drinking hot tea morning.
Can you believe it's been a month already since
Christmas!
I went to this Deli in Grants Pass called Abu's Oasis Deli.
They have "Greek and Lebanese" food. I got a variety of foods so I could try
everything... being a lover of Greek cuisine!!!
Shawarma is steak, chicken, lamb cooked on a vertical spit or
grilled as long as a day. Served atop rice pilaf. And a Greek Salad... honeydew
(should have been cucumber!), tomato, pickled beet, Greek olives, feta cheese,
and onion:
Both great!
Spanakopaka (top left) is a Greek spinach pie (chopped
spinach, feta, onions, & egg) wrapped in phyllo. Dolmas (top right) are
pickled grape leaves (stuffed with lamb, rice, onion, yogurt, and pine nuts).
Falafel (bottom left) is a deep-fried ball made with chickpeas. And bottom right
is a Lebanese meat pie.
The Falafel was mediocre. I didn't like the Fatayer. The
Dolmas were great, so was the Spanakopaka.
Baklava, rice and lentil soup, and warm pita bread. All
good!
A variety of sauces... Tahini sauce, garlic sauce, Tabouli,
and some others... All good!
Well, the trouble with this place is that the owner/cook is Lebanese, not
Greek. Sigh...
I went to Greece and Turkey with friends in 2009:
(L-R Pat, Laura, Julie, Alice, Mel (niece), me, and Ed... Pat's guy!)
There we had the BEST Greek food ever! I am disappointed in this Abu's
Deli, as they are not Greek, but Lebanese. Not the same.
I checked for any other Greek restaurants in the area, one in Medford (a
mix of Italian and Greek and low ratings) and one in Ashland (also low ratings)
Guess I'll quit looking!

Later I had simmered the ham bone all day Monday so it was time to store
the broth and the leftover ham in the freezer.
This and a ton of vegetables and maybe rice or.... will make a great soup!
Also, Brian told me to run the generator after turning off the gas, until
it runs dry. Let the carburetor cleanse itself.
Then I straightened out my checking account and read the emails Trish wrote
about her time in Washington DC with son Daryl at the Inauguration. What an
adventure!!!
Yesterday Tucker was in his first wrestling match... and he won!!!
Hopefully I'll get to see one of those matches! Also maybe I'll have a picture,
soon! This is from a video Jen took at the match...
All I know. Nuff said. Happy Hump Day. Ciao.
