Good 52º cloudy may rain morning. 80% chance and scattered radar around.
Got over 1/4" of the wet stuff last night.
While I was taking pictures this morning, the Bruise was out climbing
around ....
and a deer was in the pasture...
My former neighbor, Bill Hilton, is in the hospital. He lived up the hill
here from us. Nice man. Very helpful. He sold the 20 acres and moved to a small
place over where Brain used to live on the river. Apparently he fell off his low
deck, breaking his hip Monday night. I went to see him yesterday. He's in
critical care. He has fluid in his lungs ... or as the nurse told me, "it may be
a mass". They were talking of putting a scope down to look. He is 88 years old
and this is not looking good. He is very frail and confused. They can't do
anything about the broken hip until the lung issue is cleared up but I don't see
that happening, especially with his age and condition. His children are on their
way here from California. This is sad.
So, after that heartbreaking visit I stopped to see Brian. He gave me some
sprouted pumpkin seeds
and I will plant them here. These are "giant" pumpkin seeds so they could
possible get to the 500-800 pound size~!
YIKES! That's a lot of pumpkin pies!
Then I stopped in at
corner F & 9th in Grants Pass. I got an "infuzed" lemonade with mango
and habañero. OMGOOD! Also got a Pizza Wrap... garlic "infuzed" pesto, provolone
cheese, cilantro, spring mix, and avocado in a whole wheat wrap. DARN it was
soooooooooo good!!! I brought it home to eat, put some vodka in the lemonade and
enjoyed! Thanks Shelly and Carson! xo

The news today is horrendous. 5 teens killed in Orange County in horrible
car wreck, man puts his baby in the freezer because she was crying, a
step-father in LA stabs an 11 year old boy to death, Justin Bieber "stoned" and
driving reckless AGAIN. The amazing story was the baby found alive in the sewer
pipe in China! Flushed down the pipe a new born. Unbelievable!

National Coq Au Vin Day
This classic French dish is composed of pieces of chicken, mushrooms, onions,
bacon or salt pork and various herbs braised in red wine. The name literally
means "rooster in wine" in French, but most commonly we see chicken used in the
recipe.
While this dish sounds elaborate and "gourmet", it is actually extremely easy to prepare, especially this crockpot version:
