Dr. Rachael ~ Harry & David's ~ Table Rock Smoke ~ 7 Oaks Farm ~ Rogue River NAPA Auto Parts ~ Post Office Mural ~ Rays ~ Ruth Broadman ~ Japan's Surrender

Good 51ยบ smokey morning. UGH.

Yesterday was busy. I had a doc appointment at Black Oak Medical in Medford... Owned by Asante now but being bought by Providence. All the 20+ doctors are not happy about that and are going to stay with Asante! I will too!

This was for my annual with Dr. Rachael Orozco.
She is such a great gal. I just love her! Anyway, sitting in the lobby watching the big fish tank...These fish are all staying on this side...

because the fish (arrow) on the right is a bully and chases all the baby fish!

Dr. Rachael's nurse, Tanya, is super too. Friendly and fun. Doc checked all and said I was good, but took a blood test, so waiting for the results on that. Also a

test! Exciting, huh? While I was in the exam room waiting for the doc I heard the girls across the hall in unison say "OH NOOOOOO" then there was some scrambling noises. Hmmm... wondered what that was all about. So, when the doc was finished and we walked out of the room I asked the girls what happened.... one looked sheepish and said "I dropped a box of donuts". LOL, OMG, yes, that would cause an uproar!!!

Then I went to Harry and David's.

Edda, Diamond Bar pal, wanted some of their Rainbow Angel Hair Pasta she had bought when up here visiting ... got that.

Brian wanted some chocolate covered espresso beans and sesame sticks. Got those.

I got some Lemon Drop mix so I can have a Lemon Drop Martini!

And some of H&D's caramel pecan coffee beans and Pepper & Onion Relish...

The relish mixed with cream cheese is AMAZING!

Headed to Central Point to 7 Oaks. The smoke was so bad from all the fires that Table Rock was looking shrouded..
Cough cough cough.....

7 Oaks has the BEST corn in the world! Also got some Okra Chips (you'd love these Trish!), bell pepper chips, and mixed veggie chips.

Got one of these eggplants. Odd looking ..... only ever seen the smoothed skin kind.

Okra Chips (sooooooooooo good and crunchy!)
Mixed veggie chips....
Green pepper chips...
The huge bin of their corn was empty so they were replacing it... I got two ears before the bin was taken out...
Then a loaf of bread... made with roasted red tomatoes. OMGOOOOD!
Here are the other kinds. Love the names!

Then to Napa where I said the new gas can I got there was hard to figure out.
Paul and Rhea run the store during the week with their two loveable dogs. Mike, Paul's bro is there on the weekends. He was in LE in Ca also. Anyway, always a pleasure to do business with these folks. They helped me figure out this new (Colliefornicatia .. Ca made!) gas can. Sheeeeesh! Looks something like this one:

Weird lid you have to remove the center part of it and when you put the gas into whatever you have to press down. Odd for sure.
Letter mailed at post office...
Stop at Rays...
for more cucumbers and yogurt to make that cold cucumber soup....

Today is a special birthday, Ruth Broadman our Jackson County Republican Women's club President. HAPPY BIRTHDAY RUTH!!!! xoxo

Historically this date.... well, I put too many photos on the blog today and really don't have room. So if you want to read the historical haps and the famous birthdays go here to this blog, the same day of the month, just different year:

Anyway, yesterday was a fun day. Came home and crashed. Lightweight dinner, wine, and my chair!

All I know. Nuff said. Happy TGIF. Ciao.

August 14th
Japan Surrenders in WWII

August 14th - Japan surrenders
August 15th - Surrender announced to the world
September 2 - Ceremony and formal signing of surrender

VJ Day marks the end of WWII, and the cessation of fighting against Japan. It is called "Victory In Japan Day or "Victory Over Japan Day".

The confusion over three dates:

There is some confusion over what date is V-J Day. You can consider any (or all) of three dates as V-J Day. President Harry S. Truman caused some of this confusion........

On August 14, 1945, the Japanese government cabled to the U.S. their surrender. This is the date of most modern observances.

On August 15, 1945, news of the surrender was announced to the world. This sparked spontaneous celebrations over the final ending of World War II.

On September 2, 1945, a formal surrender ceremony was held in Tokyo Bay aboard the USS Missouri. At the time, President Truman declared September 2 to be VJ Day.

Regardless of which day you view as VJ Day, World War II was finally over.
