Good 52º morning.
Yesterday was the Law Enforcement/Fire luncheon at the Elks. It was a special celebration for one of our members, Henry, who turns 95 on the 17th. He worked for LAPD for 28 years and now, lucky guy, has been collecting his retirement for the last 37 years! Whooot!! Way to go Gary!!
My friend, Hector (former LAPD) was being funny when he told me he was going to have me cut Gary's cake...
but decided I would enjoy it too much cutting through an LAPD badge! LOL, you are right Hector!!! BTW, it says on his cake he's going to be 96 on the 17th.... my math tells me that if you subtract 1916 from 2011 (and, it's still 2011, right??) then you get 95. Hmmmmm..... LAPD error, or Albertson's? <g>
We had a newby, Jim Harting and his wife Joy, join us. Another former LASD. Yeah. We're gaining on those LAPD boys!
Then it was time to go downstairs to the bar and join my friend Jeannie. She sent Billy off to do errands. Go girl. Bob joined us and Joe and JoAnn. We had wine, in the afternoon, and lots of laughs. In fact we were having so much fun, Bob left. He couldn't take it any more, his cheeks (!) were hurting. Huh? Our bartend-ress was Dawn. Super gal. Pretty. Nice. Good wine pourer... and a Virgo!
I did take other pictures, but they turned out not flattering, so they just stay dormant. (See Jeannie, I can be nice too! Now what about that picture you took????)
Anyway, Billy finally returned and we plotted our next gathering. Jennie and Bill gave me some fresh from their garden... bell pepper, jalapeños, and cucumbers. Yummm...
So dinner came out of the fresh veggies... I thinly sliced the bell pepper and a jalapeño, heated some Costco canned chicken in a pan with EVOO, added the peppers and some diced tomatoes. Cooked some bow tie pasta, added that, and the very last spoonfuls of the Lays Heavenly Potato Dip....
OUTSTANDING! Today I form a plan for the cucumbers. A salad, of course, and maybe a cuke martini! Mmmmmm......
Historically this date...
1993 – A federal judge sentences LAPD officers Stacey Koon and Laurence Powell to 30 months in prison for violating motorist Rodney King's civil rights.
And births this date include....
... and today is the 46th wedding anniversary of my high school friend Adelle (Easton) and her Tommy! Congratulations kids!!!
All I know. Some of today's "events" I refuse to acknowledge.. mainly because he's an ADAM HENRY, big eared, arrogant, entitled, lying, socialist, elitist, tiresome, uninteresting, narcissistic, vainglorious, strutting, cocky, conceited, trash! (you figure it out.) So, nuff said. Ciao. Happy Thursday.
