Turkey & Geese & Bruiser ~ Star Wars Day ~ Pork Shoulder Roast ~ Nobel Peace Prize ~ Picture of the Day ~ Mike Hannan ~ International Firefighters Day ~ Tangy Blue Cheese Guacamolé ~ Weather Predictions ~ Orange Juice

Good 45º cloudy morning.
Yesterday was nice again....
Mr. Tom was out and about. He is not a joiner. Always by himself. And he gets along with the geese when they show up. Strange guy!
And the geese were resting in the shade in the backyard by the tub of water....
Then Bruiser decided he wanted that spot .....

And yesterday we topped at 82º, but the clouds were moving in....
YEAH, Star Wars Day!!!

I had posted that pork shoulder roast cooked in the crock pot with pineapple chunks and brown sugar last Thursday, April 26th. I made it yesterday! Brown Sugar Pineapple Pork Roast....
6 pound pork shoulder/butt roast
20oz can pineapple chunks
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
Put roast in slow cooker. Pour the pineapple chunks all over the roast. Sprinkle the brown sugar on top. Cover and cook on low 4-6 hours. Serve with cooking juices.
I didn't have any brown sugar so I used molasses. I cooked it on high for 4 hours then put on warm til ready to eat.
This came out perfect and soooooooooooo tender..... I had it with little potatoes and on fresh spinach with some raw carrots. Next is a pork sandwich!
The Nobel Peace Prize is considered one of the most prestigious awards on the planet. The prize money can be traced back to the award’s creator and the inventor of dynamite, Alfred Nobel, who stipulated that his estate (worth $197.4 million today) would continue to accrue in value by investing in “safe securities” back in 1895. The Nobel Peace Prize is awarded on December 10 each year (the anniversary of Nobel's death). The winner receives a diploma, a gold medal, and a document confirming the prize amount. As of 2013, the prize is worth 10 million SEK (about US $1.5 million).
Just my opinion, but some of the recipients of this "prize" were not worth it!!!!! Just sayin'..............

May 4 recognizes National Orange Juice Day, America’s most popular breakfast drink. People have been waking up to a glass of orange juice for many years and enjoying the health benefits it gives them.
One 8 ounce serving of orange juice has 124 mg of vitamin C and also supplies potassium, thiamine and folate.  That little bit of sunshine in the morning can add a boost to your day.
Another excellent way to add orange juice to your diet if you are watching your sugar intake is to include it as an ingredient in a recipe.  Orange juice can add great flavor to smoothies, whole grain waffles or french toast.
