Good 41ยบ foggy morning. So far, with this storm, we have
gotten 3/4" of rain! Yeah. This is good and snow expected on Mt. Ashland also.
Yesterday I was going to get a potassium blood test my doc
wants, but with the fog and rain I decided to stay home! I can do it another
day. Just wasn't in the mood. Put a fire in the wood stove, got snuggy, and took
a vacation from doing stuff!
Reading that Leonard Nimoy, aka Mr. Spock, had died yesterday
was sad. The total end of an era....again. Star Trek certainly had been a
favorite of so many my age.
He was in 80 episodes from 1966-1969. Every time I think about him and
Robin Williams I get all teary eyed. Sigh....
I watched The Odd Couple again. The new version with Matthew Perry. Sucked
worse than the first episode. It's certainly off my list!
This series was developed by Perry. Thomas Lennon is his roommate and
horrible! Well, neither one is funny. You cannot replace Tony Randall and Jack
Klugman!!! This was a BAD idea!
I was watching the turkeys, Toms all decked out in feathers galore showing
off
and it ALWAYS reminds me of the 1961 movie West Side Story with Natalie
Wood singing "I Feel Pretty"! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ye7PIyIcCro
She was spectacular, singing with a Spanish accent and dancing. Awesome woman! Another tragedy!
Only 43 when she died. Another one that still makes me sad.

The American Kennel Club has named the Labrador Retriever as
the number one dog pick on the list of the top 10 for the 21st year in a row.
Also, number 10 is a Rotteweiler. Now, when I got Dude his dad said he was Black
Lab and Heeler. This is a Heeler:
I didn't see any of the in him, so on line I typed in Black
Lab/Rotteweiler mix.... This is a Black Lab:

What do you think? I think I have a cross of the #1 dog and
the #10 dog!!!
Whatever he is, he is sooooooooo special and such a love!
Here is a good and easy recipe from Taste of Home.
Bacon Cheese Potatoes (what could be better!)
3 pounds potatoes (about 6 medium), peeled and cubed
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1 pound process cheese (Velveeta) cubed (or...... use your
favorite ... Cheddar, Mozzarella, fresh grated Parmesan, American ... or a
combination of your favs)
1 cup mayonnaise
1/2 pound bacon cooked and crumbled (or like I do, get the
cooked bacon crumbles at Costco!)
3/4 cup sliced ripe olives (I think even green stuffed
olives would be good!)
chopped fresh parsley (optional ... or use fresh snipped
chives!)
Paprika (optional)
Place potatoes in a large saucepan with water, cover. Bring to boil. Reduce
heat and cook for 10-15 minutes, or until tender. Drain. In large bowl mix
potatoes with onion, cheese, and mayonnaise.
Transfer to an ungreased 13x9 baking dish (or your Crock*Pot Casserole)
Sprinkle with bacon and olives. Cover and bake 350ยบ for 30 minutes, until heated
through. Sprinkle with parsley (or chives) and Paprika if desired. 8-10
servings.
For me, I'll make this in a 9x9 pan after cutting ingredients in half.
All I know. Nuff said. Happy Saturday. Ciao.

National Tooth Fairy Day
National
Tooth Fairy Day celebrates one of
childhood's favorite visitors. The Tooth Fairy is an American tradition with
European and superstitious roots.
Losing
baby teeth is a sometimes traumatic experience for young children. Enter the
world of the friendly, smiling and soothing Tooth Fairy. As a young child's
first baby tooth becomes lose, the child often fears losing it. The promise of a
visit from the tooth fairy and a gift, turns the occasion into something to look
forward to. When the tooth finally falls out, mom cleans it off. It is often put
it into a "tooth box". At bedtime, the child puts the tooth under his pillow.
The tooth fairy comes after the child falls asleep. She takes the tooth and
leaves a small gift, usually money. The tooth fairy leaves a gift every time the
child loses a
tooth.
