Moon & Gloom ~ Errands ~ NY Crystal Midnight Ball Drop ~ Rose Parade/Game ~ Gabe Ramirez ~ Dan Cermak ~ Mike Wilma Nelson ~ NFL Black Monday ~ Stuffed Mushroom & Steak

Good 34┬║ dark gloomy cloudy foggy morning. COME ON........... I want some SUN!!!!!
Yesterday's gloom:

Yesterday was errand day. I was going to wait until today, but wanted to get it over with. Post office for package and mailing envelopes
.... vets for dog dental kibble
, Ace for cracked corn
3 Rivers Hospital lab for blood test

, and Safeway for groceries
. So exciting. Oh, and also gas station for liquid push....
I just can't believe it's the end of the year. Whoppppen????? Zoom!

For tomorrow night I have my TV set to record the 9pm (west coast time) ball drop in Times Square NY for the midnight thingy.

Then Monday morning I have the Rose Parade ready to record.

Yes, Monday. A tradition of the Rose Parade (and Rose Bowl Game) has been "never on Sunday" as  when it was established back in 1893, concerns that commotion from the event could frighten horses hitched outside of Pasadena churches. Not the issue these days, but tradition is tradition! So mark your calendars for January 2nd.

Tomorrow I will list the NFL games being played on Sunday.
Special birthdays today... Gabe Ramirez (LASD ret) HAPPY BIRTHDAY GABE!
With his wife Ann (also LASD ret)

Another is Dan Cermak (Floor mgr at RR Ace) HAPPY BIRTHDAY BIG D!
Here's Dan leading the line dance and the guys all wearing their team's helmet! Front to back Dan, Tall Paul, Biff, Jeb, and Brad. Lookin' good guys!

And Mike Nelson (LASD ret..worked Temple with Jerry) and his bride Wilma are celebrating their anniversary today. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY kids!

Historically this date....

..... the deadliest single building fire in US history!

1924 – Edwin Hubble announces the existence of other galaxies.

And births this date include...
1920 – Jack Lord, American actor (d. 1998)
He had Alzheimers.... so sad. He was GREAT in Hawaii Five-O. A favorite show of mine!

1934 – Russ Tamblyn, American actor, dancer, and singer
(West Side Story)

1935 – Sandy Koufax, American baseball player

1942 – Michael Nesmith, American singer and musician (The Monkees)

1945 – Davy Jones, English singer (The Monkees) (d.2012)

Interesting that they were both born on the same day!

This happened 3 years ago:
Results of NFL Black Monday:
Jets fire head coach Rex Ryan (yeah) (he was a JERK! and now the Bills have fired him too!!)
Bears fire head coach Marc Trestman
Falcons fire head coach Mike Smith
Jim Harbaugh leaves the 9ers

Later dinner was a stuffed mushroom (from Safeway) baked to perfection and an Omaha steak cooked in the Air Fryer. Yummmmm.....

Spinach with a drizzle of olive oil and garlic salt....

I did make the mistake of biting into one of the jalape├▒os on the mushroom and it lit me up!!!!! WOW~!

Then it was chair, wine, and Rookie Blue on the TV.
All I know. Nuff said. Happy TGIF. Ciao.

National Bicarbonate of Soda Day, or Baking Soda Day, celebrates the many benefits and uses of Bicarbonate of Soda.
Just how does Baking Soda work and what, specifically, does it do? Few people seem to know. It's quite simple. We will skip the chemistry lesson and how Baking Soda is made. Let's just talk to what it is, and what it does. Bicarbonate of soda is a chemical compound - sodium carbonate or sodium bi-carbonate. When heated, it creates carbon dioxide, a gas. The gas aids a variety of bakery products to rise as they cook.
Many people just think of Bicarbonate of Soda as something you use for baking. But, it has so many more uses. Here are just a few of them:
Baking- helps baked goods, like bread, to rise
Relieve stomach indigestion and heartburn when mixed in water
Removing odors in the refrigerator, vents, storage areas, and closets
Removing odor in kitty litter
It is used in fire extinguishers for grease and oil fires
It is often used as a cleaning agent
It can be used as a meat tenderizer
Put it in water with beans to minimize flatulance from eating beans
Polish Silverware
Remove burned food from a pot or a pan

And, the list goes on, and on, and......
