Sun ! ~ Christmas At Brian and Jen's ~ FaceTime with Kristen Alex & Jack ~ Marie Chris Maxwell ~ Grands Cinnamon Pull Apart Monkey Bread ~ Candy Cane History

Hello! Today started out foggy and 32º. Slowly warmed to 35º by 9:30 and then the sun came out! And by noon it was a balmy 47º!
With all the dark gloomy cloudy weather we have had all month, this sun is like a miracle worker on our moods!

The moon was out but hard to see. I put this on my wallpaper...

Nice yesterday we got sun and no rain!
Here are the remnants of Tucker's snowman

Our family... Brian, Jen, Tucker, Sami, Jean (Jen's mom), Jimmy (Jen's brother) and me.....

One of Tucker's favorite football players is Marcus Mariota. He was the first Heisman Trophy winner for the Oregon Ducks and the first Hawaiian born player to win and now is with the Tennessee Titans. I got him this jersey...

Jen had everything decorated so pretty!

This is the pull apart monkey bread I made... (recipe to follow) Everyone loved it!

My deviled eggs for Brian~!

Jen made a couple of quiches, bacon wrapped sausage, tater tots, and had a variety of fresh fruits. YUMMMMMM!!!

Jimmy, came up from Alhambra California. No, he's not the king (although he could be!), just playing with items that were in the poppers Jen had on the table!
Super Great breakfast Jen!!! Thank you!!! xoox

We got to do 'FaceTime' on Sami's iPad with Kristen, Alex, and Jack....

One of Tucker's gifts was a skateboard... Brian was trying it out!

And Tucker sitting on it!

Wonderful Christmas morning. On my way home there was sun and blue sky!

My friend Pat Reardon (LASD ret) sent me this, knowing my penchant for wine: "I'm dreaming of a white Christmas, but if the white runs out, I'll drink the red."   Of course!

Today is a special birthday..... Marie Chris Maxwell, wife of Aaron. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARIE!!!

Grands Cinnamon Pull Apart Monkey Bread...
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 t. ground cinnamon, divided
2 cans Pillsbury Grands Refrigerated Cinnamon Rolls
1 cup brown sugar, not packed
1 stick butter
cinnamon roll icing (comes in with rolls)

1. Heat oven to 350º and spray a Bundt pan with cooking spray or use a 12 cup fluted tube pan
2. In large plastic storage bag put granulated sugar and 1 t. of the cinnamon. Separate biscuits and cut each on into 4 pieces.
(They are hard to come apart and you have to pat them back together. I will make this again and use just the plain Grands biscuits) Place the biscuit quarters in the bag with the sugar/cinnamon and shake to coat.
3. Put the biscuits pieces in the Bundt pan. Melt the butter and brown sugar and 1 t. cinnamon and pour over the cinnamon roll pieces.
4. Bake 28-32 minutes, or until golden brown. Cool in pan 10 minutes. Turn upside down onto a serving plate.
5. If you use the cinnamon rolls, microwave the icing slightly and drizzle over the cooked rolls. Serve warm. Pull apart....

National Candy Cane Day

Candy Cane History
Candy canes were created in 1670 in Germany, by the choirmaster of the Cologne Cathedral. He created sugar sticks for the young singers in the choir, to keep them quiet during the long Living Crèche ceremony. He bent the sugar-sticks to represent a shepherd’s staff.
At this point, candy canes were all-white and had no flavoring. They remained this way for more than 330 years. White candy canes can still be seen on Christmas cards dating to 1900.
Shortly after then, the first red-and-white striped candy canes appeared. The name of the innovator is lost to history. At about the same time, confectioners added peppermint and wintergreen flavors to create the “modern” candy cane.

The Day After Christmas

Good 32º foggy morning. Could see the full moon but through the fog and it doesn't photograph well...looks more like a sun than a moon!

Yesterday was great. Photos later.

Today's football:

If I can get organized enough and have enough coffee I may get the old blog up and running.
