10-30 Dude ~ Woodpeckers ~ 50 Years Ago ~ Taco Ravioli Casserole ~ Clouds & Moon ~ World Series ~ Dude's Couch ~ Kristen/Jack's Band ~ Candy Corn Day

Good 48ยบ cloudy morning.

Yesterday was over the top exciting... some vacuuming, dusting, sorting out and tossing old clothes, and a trip to the road with the trash and recyclables. Zowie!

10-30 police code... "Transmission does not conform to regulations"..... or just does not conform to regulations~

LOL, that is the nickname Jerry gave to his pal/radio car partner Steve Voors .... 10-30 Dude!

This video was shared by email pal Mike Cippola. I had mentioned that the woodpeckers are pecking on the wood up by my rain gutters so, he sent this to me...

..... and if you listen carefully, the voice of the narrator sounds like Tom Selleck!

I have discovered one thing, my bird feeders have been empty for a couple days and since I filled them up again with cracked corn, the woodpeckers have not pecked on the house! Hmmmmm..........
Think they were trying to tell me something!

Fifty years ago today (ugh.... has it really been that long????) I had a 'routine' doc appointment because I was pregnant. The doc said my baby was breech and a few other complications and I needed to have a caesarian delivery and to meet him at the hospital the next morning at 6am. WHAT??? TOMORAROW IS HALLOWEEN!!!

Here's a super easy recipe.....

1½ pounds lean ground beef
Taco Seasoning packet, plus water to prepare
40 oz can meat ravioli
8 oz shredded Cheddar cheese
Optional: sliced black olives, drained
Lettuce, tomato, sour cream, taco sauce and other favorite toppings.
I have read all the comments re canned ravioli and everyone who tried this recipe said its really good. Give it a try.................. If not, mix a tomato sauce into your favorite ravioli (refrigerated or frozen but thawed) and use that.

1. Prepare ground beef with taco seasoning per packet instructions and set aside.
2. Pour ravioli into bottom of your slow cooker
3. Top with taco meat, then cheese, and olives
4. Cook on low for 2 - 3 hours
5. Serve over lettuce and top with your favorite topping.

By the way, my pal Karen made the cake I posted yesterday, the One Bowl Apple Cake and said it was good, but she thought it should have more spices..... probably some nutmeg or even pumpkin spice would be good. I'm gonna try it and let you know, too.

It was a beautiful day yesterday, but stayed cool. I think we hit 70ยบ. Then it got windy and clouds came in late afternoon.....
And the moon was visible....

Later it was Dodger time..... OMGOSH! Nice that both President Bushes were there....

What a crazy game! I have never seen any World Series games as crazy nail biting as these past 5! The Astros ended up winning by 1.

World SeriesAstros lead series 3-2
Game 5 of 7 · Minute Maid Park, Houston
2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 R H E
Dodgers 0 0 1 3 0 1 1 3 0 12 14 1
Astros 0 0 4 3 0 4 1 0 1 13 14 1
The next game, game 6, will be on tomorrow, Halloween, at Dodger Stadium. GO DODGERS!

I put the cushions back up on Dude's couch so he could get up there and he's such a happy camper to have his couch back to normal instead of the cushions on the floor!
He got up there after dinner and never moved!

Kristen is doing better. Up and moving around. Hopefully she will get to come home today, as tomorrow is her birthday!
She missed Jack's Pasadena City College Honor Band concert on Saturday, which was sad. They are gearing up for the Rose Parade. But Jack said all his fellow band members from his high school band showed up to see the concert and show their support!

All I know. Nuff said. Happy Monday. Ciao.

National Candy Corn Day

It’s National Candy Corn Day! Did you know that candy corn has been around for more than 100 years and has never changed its look, taste, or design?
George Renninger of the Wunderle Candy Company created candy corn in the 1880s. It was made to mimic a kernel of corn and became instantly popular because of its innovative design. It was one of the first candies to feature three different colors!
Today, candy corn is a favorite American treat to enjoy during the Halloween season. The National Confectioners Association estimates that 20 million pounds of candy corn are sold annually. Grab a handful to celebrate National Candy Corn Day!
