Good 47ยบ cloudless morning.
Breakfast was the Greek Potato Cakes topped with soft boiled eggs....
OMGOOD~!
I posted this last year, but it's funny so here it is again:
From Dan
in Texas:
A recent
study found that the average American
walks
about 900 miles a year.
Another
study found that the average American
drinks
about 22 gallons of alcohol a year.
That
means the average American gets about
41 miles
to a gallon! Makes you damned proud to
be an
American.
Two ultra super people are celebrating birthdays today...

(Jerry & Steve at Jerry's retirement from LASD in 1998)
Historically this date...
In the Northern Hemisphere,
meteorological Autumn starts on 20 September. In
the Southern Hemisphere,
meteorological Spring starts on this
date.
1881 – Chester A. Arthur is
inaugurated as the 21st President of
the United States following the assassination of James Garfield.
1973 – Billie Jean King beats
Bobby Riggs in The Battle
of the Sexes tennis match at the Houston Astrodome in
Houston, Texas.
.... silly. they are the same sex!
Riggs was diagnosed with prostate
cancer in 1988. He founded the Bobby Riggs Tennis Museum
Foundation to increase awareness of the disease. Riggs died of cancer October
25, 1995, in Encinitas, California, aged 77.
In his final days, Riggs maintained friendly contact with
Billie Jean
King, and King phoned him often. She called him shortly
before his death, offering to visit him, but he did not want her to see him in
his condition. She phoned him one last time, the night before his death and,
according to Billie Jean herself in an HBO
documentary about her, the last thing she told Riggs was "I love
you." (Interview with Billie Jean King, USA US Open
telecast, August 28, 2006)
2011 – The United States ends its "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy, allowing gay men and women to serve openly for the first time.

And births this date include....
Yesterday was kitchen projects day. First, JoAnn had given me a bag of
pears. So I cut them up and cored them and put them in jars and filled the jars
with vodka. They will sit and infuse for about 2 weeks. At the end of a week I
will add a cinnamon stick to a couple of the jars. Will give them a taste test
and let you know...
Then I dove into the 10 pounds of tomatoes Jeannie and Bill gave me...
cored, cut, cooked, strained, and added basil, onion, garlic, loads of
mushrooms, and a couple cups (comes in little boxes) of Cucina & Amore
super yummy 'made in Italy' with Greek Kalamata
olives, Italian green olives, capers, and parsley marinara sauce.. just for
added flavor ... and canned the sauce.....
All I know. Happy Thursday. Gotta wrap Tucker's birthday presents!
Ciao.
