Yesterday I really wanted to go to The Bohemian to see Donna Walsh's new
paintings, but that didn't pan out. So, I filled bird feeders, filled water
tubs, vacuumed and mopped the kitchen floor, washed bed sheets and the new ones
I just got plus 3 other loads of clothes and towels, planned dinner, put a
soaker on the pear tree ...
Dinner was a salad. I cooked some taco flavored rice in the rice cooker and
let it sit and cool.
Chopped up ice berg lettuce, added in spinach, artichoke quarters, carrot
slices, snap peas, celery, broccoli, cauliflower...
Dressing was mayonnaise and lemon juice ...
...with Lawry's garlic salt and some black pepper...
Decided not to use the rice...saved for breakfast... salad GOOD!
Did my evening thing... chair, wine, nap. The Bruise decided to do his
resting on the entertainment center.... (sorry, took with iPhone and it was
dark...)
All I know. Nuff said. Happy 4th of July. Ciao.

July 4th
Independence Day
The fourth of July is the birthday of our nation. Today, we celebrate and
enjoy the freedom that comes with the event that made this day so special.
Thomas Jefferson, is the author of the Declaration of Independence. He led
a committee that crafted the declaration between June 11-28, 1776. Jefferson and
other discontented representatives from the thirteen colonies, voted and
approved it on July 4, 1776. The document declared freedom for the 13 colonies
from British rule. It currently resides in the Exhibition Hall of the National
Archive in Washington, D.C.
Did you know? The
Declaration of Independence was not signed by all representatives until August,
1776. To make it official, John Hancock, President of the Continental Congress
signed it. Now, can anyone guess where the saying "put your John Hancock on it"
came from!?!
Today, we enjoy the benefits of the freedom which the framers signed and
ultimately fought for. For us, it is a time for baseball, hot dogs and family
picnics. Summer is in full swing and life is good.
Fourth of July is not complete without parades and fireworks. Fireworks are
enjoyed by almost everyone. You should have your choice of several locations in
your area on the Fourth, or even the day before. Many cottage owners on lakes
will set out flares along the shore creating a "Ring of Fire". Add to this an
abundance of fireworks, and you have quite a display.
Happy Birthday, America!!!!!
Today is
also
Sidewalk Egg Frying Day is today. Hmmmmm... Do you wonder why we have such a day?
It's July, the middle of summer. It's
hotter than blazes. It's steamy, unbearable heat. Everything you touch is hot,
sizzling hot. Why, its so hot that you could fry an egg on the
sidewalk.
As we thought about this day, we
realized many of you will now rush out under the hot noonday sun to fry some
eggs on your sidewalk. Once you do so, who will eat
it!?
Have a great Sidewalk Egg Frying
Day!
