Good 37º (burrrrrrrr.... didn't leave any heat on last night
and cold in here this morning!) VERY foggy morning! Pressure dropping. Rain tonight.
Weather yesterday went from 'almost drizzly' and
45º to sunny and 72º. YEAH!!!!
DON'T FORGET TO SET YOUR CLOCKS AHEAD 1 HOUR BEFORE YOU GO TO
BED TONIGHT!!!
LOL...this is me!!!
I wrote about Carmine's Restaurant yesterday and heard from my friend Bill
Riordan (LASD ret) and he said his daughters worked at Carmine's from high
school (I remember them!) through college. Sadly Ralph passed away 6 years ago,
he and Vera were divorced. His son Carmine runs the restaurant now. The one on
Live Oak is still operating. Ralph's dad, Carmine Sr. used to own a pizza spot
in Alhambra on Valley Blvd where we'd go often when we were in high school. For
those of you still living in the San Gabriel Valley area:
Yesterday I was watching the critters out my back window and here come Mr.
& Mrs. Mal-lard...down the creek. I RAN to get my camera, just in time..
I call them that, pronounce the syllables separate because of an old old
story... A rabbit
, a duck , and a turtle
all bought a house together. The rabbit said he was going
to the nursery to get some fertilizer for the garden, and left. When he returned
he knocked on the door and a gentleman answered! He was shocked. "Who are you?"
"I'm the new butler, sir." Hmmmm, thought the rabbit. "Where is turtle?" "Mr.
Tur-tell is down at the well." (pronouncing syllables in hoity toity fashion).
"Ok then, where is duck?" "Mr. Mal-lard is out in the yard." "Fine, then tell
them Mr. Rabb-bit is here with the shit!"
(Giggle....one of my all time old favorites!!!)
Spring is on the way.... for reals..... my daffodils are blooming!!!
The Bruise was happy with the warm day... lounging on the porch
swing....
Dude was his sweet silly self... having had 2 visits from his UPS dad, Dave
yesterday!!! Two cookies! and a sniff-fest around Dave's UPS truck!!!

Another Alfredo recipe....
Susan's Ham and Shrimp
Alfredo
2 cups cooked brown rice (Minute Rice or
regular or white rice!)
2 pounds cooked shrimp, peeled and tails
off
1-2 cups diced cooked ham
slices
1 can quartered artichoke hearts,
drained
1 can whole mushrooms, drained
3 ribs celery, diced
3 medium tomatoes, diced
about 2 cups green beans cooked aldenté and
cut bite size
1 jar Betrolli Creamy Alfredo
Sauce
Salt and pepper to taste
Mix all together and heat through.
Pasta can be substituted for the rice..I'd
use Raditori or small Penné or even Rosemarie, small shells or Rotini.
Cooked diced chicken or leftover steak can
be substituted for the ham and/or shrimp
Any vegetable can be substituted or
added... frozen peas, carrots, bell pepper, or sauteéd asparagus.

Something interesting, Safeway and Albertson's are going to
merge. That would make 2400 stores and half a million employees. Darn! I like
our Safeway the way it is. I guess this will be interesting. Click on the state
for the locations within that state...

All I know. Nuff said. Happy Saturday. Off to
