Good 46º clouds laying on the ground morning. Got another 1/4"
overnight. Had 1/4" yesterday by 2:30. Total of 1/2" so far in this weather
pattern. It's 46º now and didn't get any higher than that yesterday all day. Had
a fire in the wood stove by 3pm.
Happy Throw Back Thursday...
Me and my sissy Marion 1989. I sure miss her!!!!
And... Marion with Kristen 1990...
On Tuesday I looked out in the pasture and there was Bruiser. Not. Got out
the spyglasses and this cat has no white on him. Then Bruiser rubbed against my
leg! Well, this could be one of the Bruise's littermates....
Thursday night football....
Teams with byes this week are Steelers and Panthers.
I ordered some dried sliced garlic from Amazon for my infused olive oil.
They also had dried spinach and bell peppers. They also have a bunch
of others.... I may have to try more..
The spinach and peppers will work great in soups.
Two special celebrations today.. David Perry (of Ace Hardware fame.. now
ret, with his bride, my pal, Nancy) is celebrating. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAVID!!!
xo
And two dear friends, Dee and Dale Yellin (LASD SEB Motors ret) are
celebrating their 24th Wedding Anniversary. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY KIDS!!! xo

1820 – An 80-ton sperm whale attacks the Essex (a whaling ship from Nantucket,
Massachusetts) 2,000

story).
(Click on the word "Essex" and read a
fascinating story of the ship sinking and the survival of a few
crew)
1974 – The United States Department of
Justice files its final anti-trust suit against AT&T. This suit later leads to the breakup
of AT&T and its Bell System.
... the sad end of Ma Bell and
excellent customer service and polite telephone operators!!!

Castle, badly damaging
the castle and causing over £50 million worth of damage.
1993 – Savings and loan crisis: The United States Senate Ethics Committee issues a stern censure
of California senator Alan Cranston for his "dealings" with savings-and-loan
executive Charles Keating.

Yesterday... omg. I took my car into the dealership as I kept
hearing a whining noise. When I had it in before the Service Mgr took it for a
drive but didn't hear anything. I told them it was making me crazy. So they kept
it and gave me a little loaner.. a 2014 GMC Terrain:
It's really a nice little car but I so miss my big old truck!
Got a call in the afternoon that the tech
took my truck for a drive and discovered the whining. Yeah! Not my imagination! Apparently the front differential is all screwed up with metal pieces in the oil
etc. Won't be fixed until the first of next week. Joy. Should have my truck back
before Thanksgiving!
I left the dealership, stopped to shop at Safeway, and home for lunch and I
cleaned out the fridge! (See Jeannie, miracles do happen!) I needed room for the
little Butterball turkey I bought for Dude and I! I made a quick lunch of
spinach, avocado, some of Patty's canned albacore, radishes, and some Best Foods
Southwestern Ranch (reduced fat). Also drizzled on some lemon juice. PERFECT
and YUMMMM. (Next time I will mix the lemon juice with the ranch
mayonnaise!)
One of my most favorite shows is Blue Bloods with Tom Selleck.
I like the cast except for Len Cariou. He used to be on another TV show (can't
remember the name) and couldn't stand him on that one either! He plays Selleck's
dad on Blue Bloods. There is a rumor he's leaving the show. I
HOPE!!!
And sad to hear that Mike Nichols died. He directed two or my all time
favorite movies, The Graduate and The Birdcage! (Click here for a glimpse: http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=the+birdcage&FORM=VIRE5#view=detail&mid=D73FB3CA3441B97637B4D73FB3CA3441B97637B4 ) RIP Mike. Condolences to your
children and your wife, Diane Sawyer.
On another sad note, I can't believe this about Bill Cosby!!! WTF! Such a
beloved man for so many years. SHEEESH....
All I know. Nuff said. Happy TBT. Ciao.

Great American Smokeout Day
Third Thursday of the
month
Great
American Smokeout Day is today.
Finally kick the habit.
The
goal of this special day is quite obvious: to get people to quit smoking,
resulting in fewer health problems, and less cancer and emphysema deaths
resulting from smoking and secondary smoke.
Quitting
smoking is not an easy task. It's hard it is to quit smoking. Often(usually),
it takes repeated efforts. That's okay, as long as you keep trying until you
finally succeed. The health benefits, and the prospect of a longer life are
crystal clear.
The
American Cancer Society encourages all smokers to give up the "butt" today. Join
millions of other Americans today and take a big step to a happier, healthier,
longer life.
QUIT smoking. Smell better.
Really, all you who smoke have bad smoker's breath, your clothes and hair smell.
You can't be making anyone close to you, who doesn't smoke, happy! You are
killing yourselves! It certainly did a number on Jerry's heart!
STOP!!!!!
