Cloudy ~ Errand Day ~ Road ~ Weather Prediction ~ Picture of the Day ~ Crookedest Street In The World ! One Cup Breakfast ~ National Sugar Cookie Day

Good 55ยบ cloudy morning.

Weather prediction for today is "rain probable at 60%". Guess I won't mow!

Yesterday was errand day. I left the house and our road is being worked on. So far there is a layer of gravel....

When I was in town I went through the drive through car wash and got my ride all shiny. Then back home. I was concerned about the gravel on the road, as the speed is 30mph but the dust still is rising. So, thankfully nobody was behind me I went 20mph and the dust stayed down! Car is still shiny!!

Interesting about the Crookedest Street In The World.....

Nicknamed the "Crookedest Street in the World," Lombard Street in San Francisco is a unique attraction, whether you are driving down the winding street or watching others traverse from out of a window. With eight hairpins turns down a seriously steep slope, the scenic switchbacks of Lombard Street flow past beautiful Victorian mansions and flower boxes and offer amazing views of the city.
This street was built with eight sharp curves because it is so very steep. If someone were to go down a straight street at that angle, it would be dangerous, so the curves prevent anyone from reaching a speed that could hurt or kill a driver.
On Lombard Street, it is great fun to watch cars approach, some with trepidation, as they peak over the edge, basically at the point of no return, and take the plunge. Walkers are full of laughs and giggles as they watch the cars and each other, snapping endless photos. Maybe the most fun is watching a tour bus traverse the curves. Taking a ride or walk down Lombard Street in San Francisco, once is not enough. It has to be done several times, and then at least one more time to truly enjoy the pure fun of what is happening on the "Crookedest Street in the World."

Spokesman Paul Rose of the MTA said that an average of 2,000 vehicles per day reportedly travel on the Crookedest Street in the World San Francisco per day during that period. He said, "This will be a test to improve the safety for residents, pedestrians and motorists in the area. There are often a lot of people who come to either take pictures or drive down the street and it can cause lengthy delays."

USA Today reports that the temporary closing came due to a request by Supervisor Mark Farrell. There has been a steady stream of complaints by residents wanting to control the street's chronic gridlock, mainly due to curious tourists, especially during the summer.

Observed each year on July 9, National Sugar Cookie Day honors the ever popular and delicious sugar cookie.
A holiday favorite and very easy to make, sugar cookies are sure to disappear quickly once they come out of the oven. Most sugar cookies include sugar, flour, butter, eggs, vanilla, and either baking powder or baking soda. While most people have the ingredients on hand at all times, some of the ingredients should be fresh for the best outcome. Children enjoy baking and decorating anytime someone makes a batch of sugar cookies.
The sugar cookie is believed to have originated in the mid-1700s in Nazareth Pennsylvania.  German Protestant settlers created a round, crumbly and buttery cookie that came to be known as the Nazareth Cookie.
Today, sugar cookie making and decorating has become an art form for kids and adults alike. Starting with the shape of the cookie, the dough is formed with either a cookie cutter or other methods of cutting and shaping the dough. Once the cookie is baked, the cookie artist adds colored frosting or icing. Sprinkles, edible glitter, colored sugars, and additional details may be added. Some cookies receive so much detail, it’s almost a shame to eat them.
Practice making some delicious and beautiful sugar cookies. Marvel at the skill of bakers who have mastered the skill.
