Good 39º very wet and rainy morning. Rained all night. Over half an inch. The creek's a'risin' ! Just gloomy all day yesterday....
And the turkeys were out in force... the girls just eatin' grass and bugs and the fellas doing their strutting and admiring themselves!
Do something good. Go to this site and donate a few bucks for Socks For Heroes...
It is all appreciated!
You can also find them on FaceBook:
I donated and got a great letter from Jim Hogan. He and his wife box and send all the socks without any help and every dollar goes to socks or postage. They have sent over 59,000 pairs since 2011. They do this to honor their son, LCPL Donald Hogan who was killed in Afghanistan in 2009.
Ok, was not in the cooking mood yesterday, so dinner was hummus and vegetables and some crackers with my 'corned beef paté'. The paté is easy ... put cut up corned beef (cooked, of course) into food processor.... puree. Add mayonnaise and horseradish sauce, puree some more. Taste. Add more of whatever it needs. Serve with crackers or spread it on bread or toast, add lettuce, or whatever.....
Ok, so how about another easy 'as pie' recipe? This one is a favorite. "Sue's Light As Air No-Bake Cheesecake with Berries"
8 oz Mascarpone cheese
1/2 container of Cool Whip
2 T honey
Mix well together and put into three long stemmed goblets. Slice strawberries and macerate in Triple Sec or Gran Marnier. Or.... macerate blueberries and raspberries in sugar and dark rum.
To serve: strain the berries and spoon over the cream mixture. HEAVEN! Serves only 3 ... so if you want more, double or triple the recipe. You can also layer the Mascarpone mixture with the berries.
A number of you commented yesterday re the Better Than Bouillon soup base and how many of you use it also. They have a website:
They have over 20+ kinds of soup bases. They have fish base, chili base, clam base, ham base, Kosher chicken base, mushroom base, lobster base, tomato base, turkey base, no beef vegan base, low sodium, etc....
They have breading mixes, crockpot mixes, soups of all kinds, gravies, breads, biscuits, dips, cheese balls, you name it!!!!! If you can't find the soup base in your local store, you can shop on line. This is a fabulous site! Gets the creative juices flowing!
Today there are two special birthdays....
Aidan Duran, 2003. Son of Olga and Jimmy (LASD Sgt)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY AIDAN!
Big brother James, Olga, Aidan, big bro Michael, & Jimmy.
And.... my friend Liz (Arredondo) Duncan (LASD Sgt) is celebrating today... HAPPY BIRTHDAY PRETTY GIRL!
Historically this date....
1979 – Operators of Three Mile Island's Unit 2 nuclear reactor outside of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania fail to recognize that a relief valve in the primary coolant system has stuck open following an unexpected shutdown. As a result, enough coolant drains out of the system to allow the core to overheat and partially melt down.
And births this date include....
.... Lucky Jennifer Aniston... he's weird!
.... it's all about the money!
.... she makes me throw up a little in my mouth!
Look at those lips. Oh so strange!!!
I have been catching up with two of my friends from way back when .... over 30+ years ago. Janet and Bill moved away to Vancouver Wa, later Berta moved up to Camus Wa. We were all friends when we had our first babies. Then lost touch over the years. Now we have reconnected and it's GREAT! I'll have to find some pictures!
All I know. Nuff said. Happy Hump Day. Ciao.

March 28th
Weed Appreciation Day
or................................................................
You choose!
Personally, I don't like weeds at all. Although I do like the little white clover. I do like the little town of Weed, California. Always stop there for a coffee or a bite to eat.
As for the cannabis.... there is a whole 'cannabis culture' here in Oregon. In 1973, Oregon became the first state to decriminalize cannabis. Possession of 28.35 grams (1 ounce) or less is a violation (not a crime) punishable by a $500 to $1,000 fine; stricter punishments exist for sale or cultivation. Possession of 1 ounce to 110 grams is a class B felony punishable by 10 years in prison, and possession of more than 110 grams is a felony with punishment depending on the defendant's prior record. In 1986, Oregon's Ballot Measure 5 sought to legalize cannabis. The Oregon Marijuana Initiative spent about $50,000 promoting the proposition, and collected the 87,000 signatures necessary to place it on the ballot. In 1986, by some estimates, cannabis was Oregon's largest cash crop, estimated in 1985 at between $1 billion and $1.15 billion. The ballot measure was rejected by Oregon voters with 279,479 "Yes" and 781,922 "No" votes, or 26.33% support.
