Good 62º smokey very dark and cloudy. I heard some rain last night about 11pm, but it didn't last long. Today there is a 60% chance of rain today. The radar is off to the north and west at this time.
Yesterday we topped at 82º.
Happy Throw Back Thursday....
On my birthday in 1986.... me and Tigger John Wayne Maxwell...
Such a sweet kitty. Missed so much!
I will NEVER again drive on the 134 Freeway in So. Cal!!!!!
GAG!!!
Here is a photo shared by Steve Arnold of Grants Pass...
Had to be sunset, but there are no cars!!!
Yesterday morning I headed to the eye doc for my yearly checkup.... Gadz, driving was nasty... you have to have your headlights on!
My optometrist is Dr. Jeffery Pelson. He's at The Eye Care Group 1022 NW
6th St in Grants Pass. Highly recommended!!! He's great.
Dr Jeffery Pelson OD, is an Optomerty specialist.
He attended and graduated from Pacific
University College of Optomerty in 2002, having over 15
years of diverse experience, especially in
Optometry. Call 541-478-4545 for an appointment.
His assistant, Kylie, is from Hawaii. She is studying to be and
Optometrist. She should graduate in March. She will be here until November. She
is doing a residency with Dr. Pelson. She plans to work in Hawaii. Such a sweet
and knowledgeable girl! Anyway, so far so good. Doc said everything OK.
I put on my dark glasses and went to Safeway for a quick shopping trip.
Home and glad to be out to that nasty smoke!
Historically this date.....
1942 – Holocaust: 8,700 Jews of Kolomyia (western Ukraine) sent by German Gestapo to death camp in Belzec.
1945 – Japanese forces on Wake Island, which they had held since
December of 1941, surrender to U.S. Marines.
And
births this date include...
1860 – Grandma Moses, American painter (d.
1961)
(d.
2008)
Interesting
his initials were his profession!
1936 – Buddy Holly, American singer (The Crickets) (d.
1959)
His
initials are the same as the "rocket place" in Pasadena, Jet Propulsion
Lab!
Cleaning
your house while your kids are still growing up is like shoveling the sidewalk
before it stops snowing.
I
want my children to have all the things I couldn't afford. Then I want to move
in with them.
If you like broccoli... this is great and easy!
Garlic Roasted Broccoli
Serves 4
Ingredients:
1½ pounds fresh broccoli florets
½ red onion, sliced
3 garlic cloves, sliced
Olive oil
1 t. kosher salt or sea salt (I like sea salt the
best!)
1 t. fresh ground black pepper
Preheat oven to 400º. Line baking sheet with aluminum
foil.
Add broccoli, onions, and garlic to pan. Drizzle with olive
oil. Sprinkle on salt and pepper. Toss with hands until coated. Wiggle pan until
broccoli is in single layer.
Bake 20-25 minutes, until fork tender.
All I know. Nuff said. Happy TBT. Ciao.

Neither Rain Nor Snow Day
Neither Rain Nor Snow Day celebrates the opening of the New York Post
Office building on this day in 1914.
This following inscription was inscribed on the building:
"Neither snow nor rain not heat nor gloom of night ,stays these couriers
from the swift completion of their appointed rounds."
Here is the second misconception: A lot of people assume the inscription
represents the Post Office motto. This assumption is incorrect. But, this
inscription is very close to the old Pony Express rider's motto. Which leads to
a third misconception.. ......The Pony Express was not a government funded
predecessor to today's Post Office. The Pony Express was a courier and message
delivery service. However, it was privately owned and funded.
Now that we have the history and trivia out of the way, let's go and enjoy
the day. We hope you use Neither
Rain Nor Snow Day to show your
appreciation to your postal delivery people, especially those who walk their
routes.
