Harley ~ Cabbage Fritters ~ Shopping with Karen ~ McGraths Fish House Lunch ~ Peanut Butter Fudge

OMGOSH it's March!

Good 30º frozen foggy morning.
Today was the day we celebrated our Harley's birthday. Harley showed up at our house in Temple City in 1991, a kitten. Brian carried him around the neighborhood to see if he belonged to anyone. No claims so we kept him. Jerry had just gotten his Harley Fatboy so he named the cat Harley!
He passed away in 2013 at age 22. What a cat! So missed.

Do you like cabbage? I certainly do. Will be making the traditional Irish Corned Beef and Cabbage soon, but of now, how about cabbage fritters?

2½ cups white cabbage finely chopped or grated
1/4 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup cooked crumbled bacon
1/2 cup all purpose flour
1 t. salt
1/4 t. black pepper
2 eggs lightly beaten
1/4 cup vegetable or olive oil
1. In a large bowl combine all the ingredients except the oil. Mix well
2. In a large skillet over medium heat, heat the oil. Drop heaping tablespoons of batter into the skillet, don't over crowd. Cook 2-3 minutes, until golden on both sides.

3. Remove to paper towel lined dish, repeat with remaining batter. Can be kept in oven on warm til serving. Top with sour cream and maybe some fresh chives and a few bacon pieces.

Yesterday I went shopping with pal Karen "Sugar Bear" (Baertschiger). First we went to Trader Joe's...

We both found lots of goodies to buy. Then to Harry and David's (after going the wrong way on the wrong streets!!)  Where we had fun buying more stuff!

Then lunch at McGrath's Fish House...

Karen had the halibut and fries..... Good!

Look.... it came with a little American flag! Cool.

I had the Scaallops.....

OMGOSH were these good. HEAVEN!!! I only ate about 1/3 of this so the rest came home with me. We also had their coleslaw salad which was terrific!!!! And our waitress, Kristen, was so fun and adorable!

Came home and Mike was here cutting up that tree that fell by the gate and blowing leaves off the road and yard and picking up the tree fall and stacking firewood on the porch! Wow. Dude was happy because Mike lets him out to romp and play while Mike works. When I got home Mike came in and fixed my kitchen cabinet door and the plug in for the refrigerator. A man of many talents!!!
All I know. Nuff said. Happy Hump Day. Ciao.

Peanut Butter Lover's Day (YES!!)
This is what is in my cupboard:

Today is a sticky day. National Peanut Butter Lover's Day salutes America's favorite sandwich spread. What kid didn't grow up loving a PB&J sandwich? It's a staple.
Smooth Peanut Butter is by far the most popular. Crunchy peanut butter is also on the market, and is enjoyed by many. Peanut Butter is not limited to a Peanut Butter and Jelly (PB&J) sandwich. It's popular on crackers, celery and other "peanut butter" holders. It is also used in recipes for cookies and snacks. And, don't forget peanut butter candies, too!
Did you Know? Peanut Butter is 90% or more peanuts. While it has no artificial preservatives, an opened jar is stored on a shelf at room temperature.
How about a quick easy peanut butter fudge:
