Good 33º damp foggy morning.
WHAT A FOOTBALL day yesterday was! OMG. Alex's Dolphins beat Kristen's Jets by 2. My Patriots beat Billy's Buttalow Bills (sorry Bill... giggling) by 28! Brian's Colts came close :o( losing to Jaguars by 6. .... Dang, the Giants stomped the Cowboys by 17! 49ers by 1 TD over the Lambs. Chargers over the Raiders by 12. Cardinals just barely over the Seahawks by 3. Saints whipped the Panthers by 28. Packers over the Lions by only 4. Bears by 4 over the Vikings. Let the Playoffs begin................................
I was bird watching yesterday. There was a big flock of Robins in my fields.
I so enjoy watching them. Then I heard this horrible crash. It was a Robin who hit my big bathroom window. He was dead. I felt horrible. Don't know why, but got very emotional over this. I buried him. Thought briefly of leaving him for the feral cat, but couldn't do it. Sad. Sorry............................................... :o(
Ok, so then finally I shot my first turkey! Well, it was New Years after all and I wanted to start the year off right...
Trouble is... I scared the shit out of everyone in the frozen food section.... It was awesome!
Gettin' old is so much fun.
(Good one Cyndi)
All I want for 2012:
HERE IS ALL I WANT
Obama: Gone!
Borders: Closed!
Congress: Obey it's own laws
Language: English only
Culture: Constitution, and the Bill of Rights!
Drug Free: Mandatory Drug Screening before Welfare!
NO freebies to: Non-Citizens!
We the people are coming!
BTW, the Bloody Mary was good yesterday! Used my homemade tomato juice (from making marinara sauce) and homemade celery salt. (Dehydrate celery leaves and store in a plastic bag until you have about 1 cup ... It will take the leaves from several celery heads...
Once you have about 1 cup of leaves put them into a food processor with about 2-3 T. sea salt and run until ground. I save old spice jars (like garlic salt etc with pour lids) and put it in that. You can also dehydrate parsley and basil and do the same thing. Onion salt would be good. Never tried tomato or carrot salt. Might do that experiment. Rosemary salt. Hmmm.....
Last evening PJ and Dave had a New Year's Day party.
PatC, Dave, Tom, PJ, Debbie (front), Keith, me, Cindy, Tim (front), Pam, Cliff, Johnette, Mike, Patty.....
Dave is asleep (!), Tim is frowning, and Patty's eyes are closed! What a motley crew! But fun! Thanks Debbie for the picture taking!
PJ cooked a wonderful ham. There were scalloped potatoes, lasagna, potato salad, beans, chips, cheese, Johnette's crab toasts, Tom's pies, and I took some little smokies I wrapped in Pillsbury Crescents (cut into thirds) after spreading on some artichoke cream cheese
and made a dipping sauce with sweet chili sauce and mayo.

Took this salad to the dinner last night also. Several asked for the recipe. Good stuff!
(Won a Pot Luck contest with this in Pasadena Star News, although the paper printed the recipe and called it Asian Coleslaw... they said Oriental Coleslaw was not PC! Groan.)
Sue's Oriental Cole Slaw .... 1992
3/4 cup peanut oil
3/4 cup rice vinegar
6-10 dashes Tabasco Pepper Sauce (I use 20)
1/2 tsp. ground black pepper
2 Tbsp. sugar
Shake all together in a glass jar and set aside.
2 pkgs slivered almonds
1/2 cup sesame seeds (cheaper in bulk in Mexican food isle)
Toast on cookie sheet at 350º for 5-10 minutes until golden brown. Watch carefully so they don't burn. Cool. (If you are transporting this salad then put the seeds in a zip bag and add about 3-4 pinches of sea salt.)
1 pkg Raman noodles. Put in plastic bag and break with heavy spoon or rolling pin ... until small. Do not cook. Add to nuts and seeds. Set aside.
Shred one head of cabbage. Rinse and drain well. (Salad spinner works perfect). Chop one bunch green onions and slice one bunch radishes and add to cabbage.
Great for pot luck (double for big crowd). I transport cabbage mixture in zip plastic bag, seeds and nuts in zip bag, and dressing in jar. Take along large bowl and tongs. To serve .. put cabbage in bowl, shake and add dressing, and mix, add nuts/noodles and mix.

Thanks so much T. And yes, I am fortunate to have so many neat friends. We are an eclectic group, for sure! Many different lines of work experience and backgrounds. It all works when there is good food and adult beverages! LOL.
