Oozing with strawberry jam, our Homemade Jelly Donuts are so melt-in-your-mouth-good, you'll never buy store-bought donuts again.
- 2 (7.5-ounce) containers refrigerated buttermilk biscuits (10 biscuits each)
- 1/4 cup strawberry jam
- 2 cups vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup confectioners' sugar
- Lay out all the biscuits. Using your fingers, flatten slightly. Place an equal amount of jam in the center of half the biscuits, then top each with remaining biscuits. Pinch edges together to seal well.
- In a large deep skillet over medium-low heat, heat oil until hot but not smoking. Cook the donuts in batches 3 to 4 minutes, turning to brown on both sides. Drain on a paper towel-lined platter. Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar and serve warm, or allow to cool completely before serving.

NATIONAL VODKA DAY HISTORY
Celebrated since at least 2009, National Vodka Day has been mentioned by Wine Enthusiast Magazine and has also been noted on news websites such as CBS.
And lastly, it's also........
National Golf Lover’s Day on October 4th provides an opportunity for golf enthusiasts to swing down the fairway at least one more time during the season.
While celebrating the day, you might notice it is sometimes also referred to as National Golf Day. Since 1952, the PGA has held a charity event each year for National Golf Day, which is held on different days each year.
The modern game of golf may have originated in 15th century Scotland. However, it is unclear and very much debated as to its ancient origins.
- 1779 – The Royal Gazette of New York City posted an advertisement for golf clubs and golf balls.
- 1796 – The Georgia Gazette publishes notice of an annual general meeting for a golf club in Savannah.
- Golf became firmly established in the late 19th century.
- 1894 – Delegates from the Newport Country Club, Saint Andrew’s Golf Club, Yonkers, New York, The Country Club, Chicago Golf Club, and Shinnecock Hills Golf Club met in New York City to form what became the United States Golf Association (USGA)
- 1910 – There were 267 Clubs affiliated to the USGA.
- 1922 – Walter Hagen became the first native-born American to win the British Open Championship,
- 1932 – There were more than 1,100 Clubs affiliated to the USGA.
- 1980 – Over 5,908 Clubs affiliated to the USGA.
- 2013 – Over 10,600 Clubs affiliated to the USGA.
HOW TO OBSERVE
In many parts of the country, golfers hit the links all year long. However, in the more northern regions, courses will close due to cooler temperatures preventing golfers from chasing the elusive hole-in-one. While you can, get out and golf a round or two. Invite friends to join you. Visit a course you’ve never been to before. Challenge yourself to a more difficult course. Improve your handicap or offer to teach someone the game.
No matter what you do, include someone else in your endeavors. Gather your friends and enjoy a round of golf. While you’re celebrating, be sure to give your favorite courses a shout out. They may be the most challenging or the ones where you’ve made outstanding memories. Share a video of your best shot and final score.
NATIONAL GOLF LOVER’S DAY HISTORY
National Day Calendar® continues researching the origins of this sports holiday. However, it’s interesting to note that the first U.S. Men’s Open Golf Championship was held on this day in 1895.

Taco Day? But I have all this Italian food!!!
Good Golf! Maybe it's time to start practicing putting on the lawn.
The donut idea has me wondering- what if a puff pastry or filo doughs were substituted to make the donuts? Here comes another 300 lbs...
I do remember how excited my mom's Catholic friends were when the Pope came to visit.
How sad it was when Jim and Tammy Bakker were exposed for their less admirable human frailties.
Lydia, I don't think the puff pastry or filo dough would work as well. The dough needs to be tough. xo
National Taco Day? Any day of the week is taco day for me (only crispy please) :)You would think it would be National Margarita Day instead of Vodka to go with the tacos. :)
Donuts were always my downfall so now I close my eyes and ignore them! LOL
I loved reading about New York! Since I have never been there and had to cancel my trip there twice because of this stupid virus, it was nice reading about it. I always thought NY had the weirdest names and why do they call areas "buroughs"? Reminds me of a mole or gopher! LOL
Hugs, XOXO Trisha
I was happy I got to visit New York. Such and interesting place. xo
