Las Vegas officially the City of Las Vegas and often known simply as Vegas, is the 28th-most populated city in the United States, the most populated city in the state of Nevada, and the county seat of Clark County. The city anchors the Las Vegas Valley metropolitan area and is the largest city within the greater Mojave Desert. Las Vegas is an internationally renowned major resort city, known primarily for its gambling, shopping, fine dining, entertainment, and nightlife. The Las Vegas Valley as a whole serves as the leading financial, commercial, and cultural center for Nevada.
The city bills itself as The Entertainment Capital of the World, and is famous for its mega casino-hotels and associated activities. It is a top three destination in the United States for business conventions and a global leader in the hospitality industry, claiming more AAA Five Diamond hotels than any other city in the world. Today, Las Vegas annually ranks as one of the world's most visited tourist destinations. The city's tolerance for numerous forms of adult entertainment earned it the title of "Sin City", and has made Las Vegas a popular setting for literature, films, television programs, and music videos.
Las Vegas was settled in 1905 and officially incorporated in 1911. At the close of the 20th century, it was the most populated American city founded within that century (a similar distinction was earned by Chicago in the 19th century). Population growth has accelerated since the 1960s, and between 1990 and 2000 the population nearly doubled, increasing by 85.2%. Rapid growth has continued into the 21st century, and according to estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau, the city had 651,319 residents in 2019, with a metropolitan population of 2,227,053.
This quick and easy chicken dish tastes so special, it's fit for some of your most important guests. With its light lemon and butter flavor, President's Chicken will surely earn you mealtime raves. (Unknown where this name came from, Mr. Food didn't say.)
- 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter or margarine
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves
- Preheat oven to broil. In a large skillet, mix together sauce ingredients; cook over low heat until butter has melted.
- Place chicken breasts in a shallow baking dish; pour sauce over the chicken. Broil for 8 to 10 minutes per side or until no longer pink in center, turning chicken occasionally to coat well with the sauce.
** Serve over rice or noodles and drizzle with the pan drippings for a delicious flavor boost. You can use chicken breasts with the bone-in or even skin on, but remember to cook them a little longer.

Good morning. Life is settling in. One good thing about the Pandemic is it has provided the backdrop for simplifying life to what is elementally important. Keeping my brain exercised is a priority- your recipes and trivia do lightly nudge the cells to make associations.
I absolutely did. not know Las Vegas history of starting on the footprint of a meadow. My first reaction was denial- then wonder.
It is also ice to see how people age. Glynis Johns, I like her mature style. It is welcomig.
Godspeed to you, today.
I really look forward to your recipes of the day. Tonight for dinner is your Philly Cheese Steak Casserole. It's just John and me so I will have much leftover. It has to be hard to cook for one. You would either eat the same thing for a week or freeze half.
Loved reading about Las Vegas. It's nice having it so close by for a little get away. Haven't been there in ages. Hope it's the same city after this damn virus goes away!
XOXO Trisha
Having leftovers is good, although I don't cook in large quantities anymore. xo
