Throw Back Thursday ~ Frozen ~ Picture of the Day ~ Edwin Booth & Robert Todd Lincoln ~ Loaded Egg Clouds ~ National Love Your Pet Day

Good 29º frozen again morning.

Today is 02-20-20!

Happy Throw Back Thursday.. 5 years ago this date, lunch with pals at The Haul in GP..... L-R Dee Yellin, Jennifer Murphy, Nancy Perry & me, and Jeannie Patterson....

Yesterday we started at 22º, and I was complaining, but my friends Pat and Alice up in Idaho said it was 15º there!!!

The sun came over the mountain just after 8am and we warmed to 25º. Then by 9am we were at 30º and by 10am we hit 40º.  We topped the day at 68º !!! Heat wave!!!

Picture of the Day ... the secret to a great shot is timing!

Interesting ... John Wilkes Booth's brother Edwin saves the life of  Abraham Lincoln's son Robert............

Robert Todd Lincoln (August 1, 1843 – July 26, 1926) was an American politician and lawyer. Lincoln was the first son of Abraham Lincoln and Mary Todd Lincoln. He graduated from Harvard College before serving on the staff of Ulysses S. Grant as a captain in the Union Army in the closing days of the American Civil War.
During the Civil War, a young Robert Todd Lincoln was traveling by train from New York to Washington. He ended up accidentally being in the space between the platform and train. Lincoln was rescued by Edwin Booth (Nov 13 1833 - June 7 1893), one of the most celebrated actors of the 19th century. Lincoln immediately recognized him and thanked him. The actor had no idea whose life he had saved until he received a letter a few months later commending him for his bravery in saving the President's son.

Edwin Booth later retold the story to his friend Mr. William Bispham, who wrote an article about the incident in 'The Century Magazine' in November of 1893. Robert Todd Lincoln was asked about the story, to which he responded in a letter to the editor of "The Century Magazine" Richard Watson Gilder, in February of 1909.
John Wilkes Booth (May 10, 1838 – April 26, 1865) was the American actor who assassinated President Abraham Lincoln at Ford's Theater in Washington, D.C. on April 14, 1865. Edwin probably took comfort in the fact that, despite his brother’s villainous deed, he himself had saved the president’s son, Robert.

From Mr. Food... an interesting different recipe....

Enjoy a healthier-for-you breakfast with our recipe for Loaded Egg Clouds (also known as "cloud eggs"). The "cloud" in the name refers to the fluffy egg whites that surround the yolk. Our recipe also features tasty sausage crumbles, scallions, and pimentos. Serve these egg clouds alongside some toast and fresh fruit and you've got yourself a champion-style breakfast or brunch!

  • 2 eggs, separated
  • 1/4 cup turkey sausage crumbles, browned in skillet according to package directions
  • 1 tablespoon thinly sliced scallions (green onions)
  • 2 teaspoons diced pimentos, drained on a paper towel
  • Pepper for sprinkling

  1. Preheat oven to 450º. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, beat egg whites until stiff peaks form. Gently fold in sausage, scallions and pimentos until just combined.
  3. Spoon mixture onto baking sheet, making 2 mounds. Using the back of a spoon, make a well in the center of each mound. Bake for 3 minutes and remove from oven.
  4. Gently pour one egg yolk into each well. Return to oven and bake for 4 to 5 minutes or until desired doneness of yolk. Sprinkle with pepper before serving.

All I know. Nuff said. Happy TBT. Ciao.
xo Sue Mom Bobo

On February 20th, pet lovers everywhere observe National Love Your Pet Day.  This holiday is a day set aside to give extra attention to and pamper your pets.  This is a good day to focus on the special relationship that you have with your pets.
Did you know that most households in the United States have at least one pet?  While there are more cats than dogs in the United States, more households have dogs than cats, but not by much. Pets are not limited to the canine and feline categories.  There are quite a few who prefer the companionship of birds, reptiles, fish or rats.  Whoever your pet companion is, we are sure you will enjoy spending a little extra time with them on National Love Your Pet Day and reap the benefits, as well such as stress relief and lower blood pressure.  So on February 20 (and every day) show your appreciation to your pets!
HOW TO OBSERVE
Bring your pet a special treat, take an extra long walk or give them more attention on National Love Your Pet Day.  Whatever you decide to do, spoil and appreciate your pets!
**My life would not be good without my dog Dude and my cat Bruiser. They are my loves and keep me company and happy!

Good morning.

I love the breakfast presentation. I think next week I will play with versions of it.

The secret to a good phot, in this case, I suspect is photoshop):-

Edwin Booth is not responsible for his brother's misdeeds. Thank you for sharing.

The US experiment with Prohibition is a stellar example of not every problem can be solved by law. Some things, people need to work out as individuals.

Do have a good day. I miss having a pet- but not enough to get another.
