Yesterday by early afternoon the temp said 74º. The sky was clear and the sun was bright, but with a slight breeze it still felt pretty cool to me! Here is 4:30pm....

Interesting about Rin Tin Tin .....

 

 

Rin Tin Tin (often hyphenated as Rin-Tin-Tin; September 1918 – August 10, 1932) was a male German Shepherd that was an international star in motion pictures. He was rescued from a World War I battlefield by an American soldier, Lee Duncan, who nicknamed him "Rinty". Duncan was a member of the 135th Aero Squadron.... see him there with Duncan in the front row....

Duncan trained Rin Tin Tin and obtained silent film work for the dog. Rin Tin Tin was an immediate box-office success and went on to appear in 27 Hollywood films, gaining worldwide fame. Along with the earlier canine film star Strongheart, Rin Tin Tin was responsible for greatly increasing the popularity of German Shepherd dogs as family pets. The immense profitability of his films contributed to the success of Warner Bros. studios and helped advance the career of Darryl F. Zanuck.

After Rin Tin Tin died in 1932, the name was given to several related German Shepherd dogs featured in fictional stories on film, radio, and television. Rin Tin Tin Jr. appeared in some serialized films, but was not as talented as his father. Rin Tin Tin III, said to be Rin Tin Tin's grandson, but probably only distantly related, helped promote the military use of dogs during World War II. Rin Tin Tin III also appeared in a film with child actor Robert Blake in 1947.

Duncan groomed Rin Tin Tin IV for the 1950s television series The Adventures of Rin Tin Tin, but the dog performed poorly in a screen test and was replaced in the TV show by trainer Frank Barnes's dogs, primarily one named Flame Jr., called JR, with the public led to believe otherwise. Instead of shooting episodes, Rin Tin Tin IV stayed at home in Riverside, California. The TV show Rin Tin Tin was nominated for a PATSY Award in 1958 and in 1959, but did not win.

 

***One of my most favorite shows!!!!! James Brown who played Lt. Masters on The Adventures of Rin Tin Tin sent me an autographed picture of him and the dog!

 

 

These easy-to-throw-together Country Bacon Cheddar Puffs make a tasty snack for after school, but they're also great to serve as a dinner appetizer or party hors d'oeuvre, or with a bowl of soup! 

• 1 (7.5-ounce) package refrigerated biscuits (10 biscuits)
• 2 tablespoons bacon bits
• 1/4 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
• 2 tablespoons sliced green onions or chives or shallots
• Cooking spray

 

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Coat a baking sheet with cooking spray.
    
2. Separate biscuit dough into 10 pieces. Make an indentation in the center of each with your thumb. Evenly sprinkle with bacon bits, Cheddar cheese, and scallions. Pull dough over filling and pinch together firmly so filling is completely enclosed. Place seam-side down on prepared baking sheet. Lightly spray tops with cooking spray.
    
3. Bake 10 to 12 minutes, or until golden. Serve warm.

While sitting at my desk, Bruiser often wants to lay on my folded arm. So, he did yesterday and I got YouTube on with a video for cats, of birds and mice eating treats left by a camera. Bruiser is just hypnotized by these videos!

It is sooooooooooooooo good, I could eat it every day!

National Indian Pudding Day is observed each year on November 13. This day honors a cold-weather classic, which is a traditional New England dessert, Indian pudding.

It was in the seventeenth century that English colonists brought hasty pudding to North America and completely transformed it.  Although it was initially made with wheat, they substituted cornmeal due to a shortage of the grain at the time. The colonists had learned how to cultivate maize (corn) from the indigenous peoples. Indian pudding was derived from their name for cornmeal, Indian meal.  Milk was substituted for water, and they added either molasses or maple syrup along with cinnamon, ground ginger, butter, eggs, raisins, and nuts. Indian pudding is then slowly baked for several hours, transforming its texture from the original porridge-like quality of hasty pudding to a much smoother texture which is more typical of custard.

• Indian pudding was found in most American cookbooks before 1900.
• 20th-century commercial puddings with industrially perfect creamy consistency replaced the popularity of  Indian pudding.
• The long cooking time required for Indian pudding did not appeal to 20th century home cooks.
• Indian pudding is still associated with autumn holidays and is occasionally served by some restaurants.
• Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream are usually served with Indian pudding.
