Good 61º clear sunny morning.
So, by 3:30 pm we were at 105º but then topped at 110º by 5pm!
We only had a few clouds yesterday, but they were beautiful cumulus clouds....
We only had a few clouds yesterday, but they were beautiful cumulus clouds....
And as it got hotter the turkeys were up there in the pasture standing and sitting in the shade of the tree....
Imagine living in a house in the suburbs and one morning looking out your front window to find a skyscraper towering over your home. That's what researchers are comparing the 11-million-ton iceberg currently looming over a tiny village in Greenland to.
authorities have evacuated those living closest to the shoreline in Innaarsuit, a village of about 170 people, according to the BBC.
Holland, who does research in Greenland during summer, said that the shallow bays surrounding the area are an easy spot for icebergs to drift into and bottom out on the sea floor. It's when they get stuck that people living nearby can begin to feel uneasy about the bergs.
From the Slow Roasted Italian - Donna
Southern Style Macaroni Salad is the best ever pasta salad of all time. It is creamy with the perfect crunch and a little tang. It is exactly what I think of whenever summer sides come to mind. This recipe is so easy you can whip it up in less than 30 minutes.
2 pounds dried elbow pasta
3 large hard boiled eggs
3 celery stalks, diced
½ medium onion, diced
1 (6.4 ounce) pouch chunk light tuna, in water
1 (30 ounce) jar Hellman’s/Best Foods mayonnaise
½ (30 ounce) jar Miracle Whip salad dressing spread
2 teaspoons kosher salt
2 teaspoons fresh ground black pepper
Optional: paprika
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook pasta (al dente) according to directions on the package. Pour into strainer to drain water and set aside (in strainer).
- Meanwhile: Dice onion and celery. Chop hard boiled eggs. Add ½ of mayonnaise and ½ of Miracle Whip to the pasta pot. Add tuna, onion, celery and eggs. Stir to combine. Add drained pasta and stir until well combined. Add remaining mayonnaise and Miracle Whip. Add salt and pepper to taste. Stir to combine.
- Sprinkle with paprika (if desired). Chill until ready to serve.
- Serve and enjoy!
DONNA'S NOTE
- Best if chilled overnight.
(I got some macaroni and am going to make this today!)

I went into GP to Safeway for some groceries. As I was walking in, one of the butchers was coming to work. He and I chatted. Then I went to buy some boneless skinless chicken thighs and they only had one package. He came walking out from the back and asked if I had found everything I need. I told him I needed another pack of the thighs. He said it would take him a few minutes and if I had other shopping to do to go ahead. As I was going down an aisle, here he comes with my chicken! He brought it to me!! How nice!!!
I have to say, folks here in RR and GP are so nice. They hold doors open for you, etc.
The last place people did that was when Jerry and I were in Texas! Sure don't get that politeness in Los Angeles, or anywhere in California for that matter! Big cities are the worst.

All I know. Nuff said. Happy Tuesday. Ciao.
National Tattoo Day on July 17 might just be the date to get that ink you’ve been contemplating.
Evidence of humans marking their bodies with permanent designs have existed for thousands of years. Egyptian and ice mummies reveal several forms of religious and status symbols.
The word “tattoo” is derived from the Polynesian language for tatau which means “to tap or to mark.” Around the world, cultures surrounding tattooing vary and some have changed very little over time. In the United States, sailors brought tattooing to coastal shores from their island exploits.
Getting inked continues to be a growing trend as technology and acceptance increases. Age, gender, and religion are less common barriers than they used to be. The reasons for going under the needle range from intensely personal symbols to recording a significant event. There are those who get a tattoo on a whim. Some people confess it’s an addiction.
