Full Moon Again ~ Clouds & Sunset ~ Throw Back Thursday in Boston ~ Picture of the Day ~ M&M Candy ~ Anti NFL Song ~ Bacon Monkey Bread ~ Betty (Laney) Mueller ~ ELA Mouse Pad ~ National Alaska Day

Good 45º clear sunny morning.

So, yesterday's moon was 100% illuminated, but today it is actually called the Full Moon!  During a Full Moon the moon is 100% illuminated as seen from Earth and is on the opposite side of the Earth from the Sun. The Moon will be visible throughout the night sky rising at sunset in the east and setting with the sunrise the next morning. The point at which a Full Moon occurs can be measured down to a fraction of a second. The time it takes between full moons is known as a Synodic month and is 29.530587981 days long.

Yesterday stayed clear and warmed to the high 80ºs, but about 5pm the winds came up and clouds moved in.

This sunset picture over my mountain was at 9pm....

Happy Throw Back Thursday
In 2008 I was on a cruise up the east coast from NY to Canada with Deputies On The Go. In Boston there was this "gentleman" napping in the park....

We went into the Cheers Bar.......

And on this Bulll Moose was a Patriots cap!

Interesting about M&M candy...

In 1941, Forrest Mars Sr., of the Mars candy company, struck a deal with Bruce Murrie, son of famed Hershey president William Murrie, to develop a hard shelled candy with chocolate at the center. The name thus stood for “Mars & Murrie” the co-creators of the candy. The partnership allowed the candies to be made with Hershey chocolate, as Hershey had control of the rationed chocolate at the time. The story didn’t end sweetly for Murrie, though. When chocolate rationing ended after the war, Mars bought out Murrie's interest in the product and went on to become one of Hershey’s biggest competitors.

Here's a new song, aimed at the NFL and all those who kneel during the National Anthem. Sung by Neal McCoy.....

From Mr. Food.... this is YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMY!!!! Sooooooooooo easy!!!
Everything seems to taste better with bacon in it, and that goes for our delicious pull-apart Bacon Monkey Bread. Whether for breakfast, brunch or a snack, this one will disappear in a flash!

  • 11 bacon slices, cooked and crumbled
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 3 (10-ounce) cans refrigerated buttermilk biscuits
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted

Preheat oven to 350º. Coat a 12-cup Bundt pan with cooking spray.

In a medium bowl, combine bacon, Parmesan cheese, and onion; set aside.

Cut each biscuit into quarters. Dip one-third of biscuit pieces into melted butter, and place in prepared Bundt pan. Sprinkle with half of bacon mixture. Repeat layers with remaining biscuit pieces and bacon mixture, ending with biscuit pieces.

Bake 40 minutes, or until golden. Cool in pan 10 minutes; invert onto a serving platter, and serve bread immediately.

I worked at ELA Station way back when, and at one of our department reunions I got this mouse pad.....

All I know. Nuff said. Happy TBT. Ciao.

On June 28, National Alaska Day recognizes the largest state to join the union.
Not only is Alaska the largest state, but it is also home to the highest mountain peaks in the country, including Mt. Denali. In The Last Frontier, it’s possible to test the theories associated with the Bering Land Bridge. Check out the remote and intriguing location of North America’s history.
Populated by Inuit, Yupik, Tlingit, and others long before Russian and European explorers found their way to the Arctic land, Alaska supported the indigenous people with sufficient whale fat, beaver, and fish.
The Land of the Midnight Sun led to the next great gold rush. In the Yukon, many would venture into the rugged North expecting to find riches in the Klondike. Those who did, would find it difficult to get it back out again…alive.
The Iditarod takes place in Alaska and runs 1150 miles from Anchorage to Nome in honor of Leonhard Seppala. In 1925, he along with several other mushers delivered much-needed anti-diphtheria serum to Nome.
The immense Denali National Park and Preserve is home to glaciers, fossil records, and a study in geology. All along the Alaska Range, the pristine wilderness provides hikers along even the most well-marked trails outstanding views and peaceful vistas.
Venture into Glacier Bay for glimpses of an icy blue you’ll see nowhere else on Earth. Listen for the rugged mountains of ice collapsing into the bay or seek the humpback whales breaking the surface. Sights and sounds of the bay as are abundant as the history.
HOW TO OBSERVE
