Good 37º foggy morning.
The sun never showed yesterday. We topped at 41º.
The fog was depressing (again)... looks the same today so far...
One year ago today we had snow!
I went into the kitchen to make some coffee and outside on the
porch railing was a red-tailed hawk! I didn't have my camera, dang, and I knew
if I moved he'd quickly fly away! He walked around for a bit and then he flew
away.... Looked like this one:
That Lemon Blueberry Dump Cake was WONDERFUL!!! Gobble
gobble.... oink!
This is a recipe Jerry and I made often...
Jerry and Sue's Famous Chorizo-Egg Burritos
1 pound pork or beef chorizo - soft kind
12 eggs, beaten
1 bunch green onions, chopped
sour cream
flour tortillas
grated Cheddar cheese
dice green chilis
and/or thin sliced jalapeños
salsa if you like
Heat non stick skillet to medium. Cut the casing on the
chorizo and squeeze into pan. Cook until it appears to all melt. Add eggs to
mixture. cook, stirring for scrambled, until all eggs are cooked.
Heat tortillas (in microwave or on hot flat surface). Fill
with chorizo/egg mixture, sprinkle on green onions, add dollop of sour cream,
some diced chilis, and cheese. Roll up and enjoy. If you are making them for a
crowd, wrap in aluminum foil and keep them in the oven at
170º.
Historically this
date...

damage.
.............wow,
80,000!!!
1835 – The United States national debt is
0 for the only time.
1877 – Crazy Horse and his warriors fight their last battle against the United States
Cavalry at Wolf Mountain, Montana
Territory.
2011 – An attempted assassination of Arizona congresswoman Gabrielle
Giffords and subsequent shooting in Casas Adobes,
Arizona at a Safeway grocery store kills six people and wounds 13, including
Giffords.
And births this date include....

baby girl Kim......
This is interesting:
The Nike "Swoosh" is a corporate trademark created in
1971 by Carolyn Davidson, while she was a graphic design student at Portland
State University. "I don't love it," Knight told her, "but I think it will grow
on me." For her services, the company paid her $35. In 1983, Knight gave
Davidson a golden Swoosh ring with an embedded diamond, and an envelope filled
with 500 Nike stock to express his gratitude. The Nike "Swoosh" is now one of
the most recognized brand logos in the world.
The day was so exciting. I cleaned out a bunch of stuff from
my desk and shredded it.
I paid my estimated state tax payment. I took the trash and
recycle stuff to the cans down by the road. I found some photos to send my
nephew. And I washed a load of clothes and vacuumed. Over the top!
Then it was time to figure out what to eat for dinner prior to chair, wine,
and TV. And no, not the Hollyweirdo Golden Globes!
All I know. Nuff said. Happy Monday. Ciao.

Bubble Bath Day
Today is Bubble Bath Day! People have been enjoying warm
baths for thousands of years. In Ancient Rome, bathing at a public facility was
part of the daily routine for most citizens. A trip to the Roman baths might
include a dip in the caldarium (hot tub), a brief break in the laconicum (sauna), and a refreshing swim in the frigidarium (cold pool).
Up until the late 1940s, the average American bathed once a
week for personal hygiene. Today, a daily shower is standard, but it’s important
to indulge in a luxurious soak every once in awhile. A bubble bath can help open
up your pores, cleanse your skin, and relax muscles.
Pick up a bottle of your favorite bubble bath product and
fill your tub tonight to celebrate Bubble Bath Day! Create a calming spa
atmosphere with background music, candles, and a towel to cushion your neck.
Enjoy!
- January 08, 2018 is also National English Toffee Day
