Good 52ºclear morning.
We got a little break yesterday in the heat and the smoke...
Got quite windy. We topped at 99º.
Yesterday Brian came over to drop off his tent trailer to
store it in my barn...
He took his air blower and blew out leaves and dust and dirt
from the barn floor. He also tossed a bunch of "trash" items in his truck and
took them to the dump. Thank you Bri!!!! ox
Picture of the day.... unusual animal friends... a cat and a
fox....
This is interesting about Chuck Norris:
Before he was
the Texas Ranger, Chuck Norris joined the United States Air Force as an Air
Policeman (AP) in 1958. While stationed at the Osan Air Base in South Korea, he
began studying martial arts. He left the service in 1962, and started working as
a karate instructor. He founded 32 martial arts schools, and was actor and
fellow veteran Steve McQueen’s karate teacher. It was McQueen that encouraged
Norris to go into acting. Norris has used his success to give back to the
military community, serving as a spokesman on behalf of the Veterans
Administration
(and YEAH, another Hollywood Republican!!!)
Special birthday today... my pal Pat Reardon (LASD ret) and
husband of the awesome Alice is celebrating today. HAPPY BIRTHDAY
POOPS!!!
(With Dude...)
And here you are Pat, wayyyyy back in 1981.... young Deputy!
Historically this date....
1918 – Women enlist in the United States Marine
Corps for the first time. Opha Mae Johnson is the first woman to enlist. LOL, "BAMS"
! If that is the case then female deputies should be called "BADS"
!!!
1969 – The Apollo 11 astronauts are released from a
three-week quarantine to enjoy aticker tape parade in New York, New York. That evening, at a state dinner in Los Angeles, California, they are awarded the Presidential Medal of
Freedom by U.S. President Richard Nixon.
2004 – Hurricane Charley, a Category 4 storm, strikes Punta Gorda, Florida and devastates the surrounding
area.
And births this date
include...
...do you realize that if Ho Chi
Minh had married Don Ho he would have been Ho Ho!
In this warm weather you want something cool and refreshing to eat. Here is a great Greek Pasta Salad (compliments of Mr. Food..Howard). Serve it along side a grilled steak (it is National Filet Mignon Day!) or fish filet.
1 12-16 oz box radiatore pasta
1 10 oz bag fresh spinach, coarsely chopped
8 oz feta cheese, crumbled
1 pint cherry tomatoes, sliced in half
½ cup pitted Kalamata olives, drained
1 cup Greek dressing (buy bottled or see easy recipe below)
¼ t. salt
¼ t. pepper
1. Cook pasta according to package directions, drain, rinse, drain.
2. In large bowl combine remaining ingredients, add pasta, toss gently
until evenly coated. Serve or refrigerate until ready.
Greek Dressing:
¾ cup olive oil
1/3 cup fresh lemon juice
1 T. dried oregano
½ t. garlic powder
½ t. salt
¼ t. pepper
Shake all together in jar.
Chair, wine, TV.... watched several food shows and this one had a parade and fair food... these Clydesdales caught my eye, as it doesn't look like the "normal hoof's" looks like they have toes and are wearing flip-flops!
Then I watched the Cubs vs Diamondbacks game. Our local Brandon Drury
(Grants Pass High grad and friend of my Brian... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brandon_Drury)
was playing right field. The score was 0-0 until the 6th inning. The D's scored
2 runs and then Brandon hit a double and two more runs came in. They ended up
winning 6-2.
Brandon at bat:
Hitting that double:
Run!!!!
And then he caught a high fly to put the Cubs out in the 9th:
His last at bat:
And I watched the end of the Dodgers/Padres game and the D's won 6-3!
All I know. Nuff said. Happy Sunday. Ciao.

Here are today’s five thing to know about Filet
Mignon:
- “Filet Mignon” is just a fancy name for a beef tenderloin steak.
- Famous author O. Henry coined the term filet mignon in his book, The Four Million in 1906.
- A French derivative, the literal meaning is small (mignon) boneless meat (filet).
- Filet Mignon is the cut from the small end of the beef tenderloin.
- Filet mignon is a steak cut of beef taken from the tenderloin, or psoas major of the steer or heifer.
Always laughed because my
Darling always called them "figgly miggly" !
