Good 53º clear so far, sunny morning. Ahhhh... Bruiser let me
sleep in til 6:45 this morning! Yeah! Normally he wakes me up at 6:00. Later
sunrise is nice!
Yesterday the smoke was heavy ..... and we topped at 94º.
Throw Back Thursday...
Blankets over a table on my parents patio so Kristen could
have a "tent" to play in. She's holding my favorite Teddy Bear my aunt gave to
me when I was born. He is still close..... Anyway, so this is about 1971 or
1972
Yesterday I had to take a trip into Medford for a bone density test. When I got to Central Point all the way to Medford the smoke from the wildfires was 10 times worse than here in RR or in GP. Couldn't hardly see!! Nasty.
I wore this shirt ....
All the ladies working there loved it! All the women who work there, either
at the desk or doing the imaging are super nice!
So, had the test, which is a lay on your back, x-ray type machine passed
over you several times with legs in different positions. Anyway, my test came
out normal for bone density. Yeah!
Then to Costco for chicken stock
(I cook the boneless skinless low fat chicken thighs in this for Dude), olive oil
, BF Mayonnaise (large jar!), TP, dog dental chews, lemon juice, Ocean Mist Artichokes (the only place those perfect California chokes I can find up here!)
, organic hard boiled peeled eggs , fresh mozzarella snacks

Dark Chocolate Biscotti
My pal Nancy Perry makes THE BEST biscotti, but this is awesomely good and
had a coating of chocolate!!! Made in Oklahoma with California almonds!
I also got a few things Brian requested. Then to drop off Brian's "stuff"
and home to unload and a glass of wine!
The chats at the Imaging place were fun and as well as a few folks I talked
to at Costco. Nice!
Today is a very special birthday. One of my BFFs, Erika is
celebrating. HAPPY BIRTHDAY GIRLFRIEND!!!! I hope you have a WONDERFUL day!!!

1998 – Lewinsky
scandal: US President Bill

"improper physical relationship" with White

Lewinsky. On the same day he admits before the nation
that he "misled people" about the relationship. (such a POS!!!!)
2008 – American swimmer Michael Phelps becomes the first person to win eight gold medals in one Olympic Games.

...born in El

Later for dinner I cooked one of those artichokes, dipping mayonnaise, and an Omaha Steaks Sole Almondine. OMGOOOOOOOD!!!!!!
If you are wondering about the artichoke stems visible in the glasses
behind my dinner, I slice a little of the stem off and then put them in a glass
of water to keep them refreshed until I cook them. They don't turn black like
they do if you just put them in the fridge.
All I know. Nuff said. Happy TBT. Ciao.

Custard
History Custard as we know it dates back to the Middle Ages, when it was used
as a filling for a flan or a tart. The word custard is derived from “crustade,”
a tart with a crust. After the 16th century, fruit creams became popular and it
was about this time that custards began to be made in individual dishes or bowls
rather than as fillings for a crust. Yet, as things move full circle, today
custard is used to fill tarts, Danish pastry, flans, cream puffs and éclairs; it
is mixed into trifles and otherwise part of other sweet and savory delights.
Custards are prepared in two ways: stirred or cooked on top of the stove, or
baked in the oven.
Here are today’s five thing to know about Vanilla
Custard
- Custard is a variety of culinary preparations based on a cooked mixture of milk or cream and egg yolk.
- Depending on how much egg or thickener is used, custard may vary in consistency from a thin pouring sauce (crème anglaise), to a thick pastry cream used to fill éclairs.
- The most common custards are used as desserts or dessert sauces and typically include sugar and vanilla.
- Custard bases may also be used for quiches and other savory foods.
- Sometimes flour, corn starch, or gelatin is added as in pastry cream or creme patissiere.
