Good 57º cloudy morning. Hoping for rain, but there are only two tiny spots
of radar and they aren't even close! Ah well... yesterday was cool and clear all
day. Hopefully to day is the same. Enjoying the smokeless cooler days!
Oh wait.... omg, it's raining up on my mountain!
.... and Bruiser is laying down in the pasture waiting for some critter to come along!
.... while Dude watches the gate from the porch.
This is funny! But remember, this was in 1945!!!
Yesterday I went to Costco with PJ. We had a good time shopping. Got more
of that Creamy Garlic Sauce
(to which I am totally addicted!) (So is PJ and Dave... she got more too),
Quinoa w/ artichoke and roasted peppers in individual cups pre-cooked
artichokes, avocados, chicken stock, and
some McCormick Chipotle Crushed Pepper.
I normally infuse my olive oil with
regular crushed pepper, onion, and garlic. This sounds good... smokey. Will
infuse some olive oil soon.
Then PJ got Dave (he was at home) a Polish sausage dog and one for her. I
got a Latte Mocha Freeze. Yummmmm. Then we headed to Grants Pass. I had a list
of a few things Jennifer wanted. Stopped at the Kitchen Company (they are on FB
but don't have a website.)
and dropped off her artichokes, avocados, bacon crumbles, and Creamy Garlic
Sauce! Nicole, the store manager had not heard of the garlic sauce or the quinoa
cups. She was interested so I took her out to the car and showed her. She said
she LOVES quinoa, is dairy and gluten intolerant and it sounded great. I gave
her one to try. Then home to unload our loot. I had also bought some Asian
Chicken Wraps.. so so good. Had one for lunch with a little of the dressing and
some creamy garlic sauce!
For those of you close by, the Great Cats of the World park will have the
baby tigers ready for petting as of Sept 5th. These are the same ones I got to
hold and play with in their cage!

... the Japanese surrendered on my Mother's birthday, August
15th... and signed the treaty on my birthday! Cool. AND then my Brian was
stationed aboard the Mighty Mo when he was a Marine. Anti-terrorist watch,
guarding the atomic weapons during the Gulf War ... Marine
Detachment.
1998 – Swissair Flight
111 crashes near Peggys Cove, Nova
Scotia. All 229 people on board are
killed.
... when
visiting Nova Scotia a few years ago I saw the memorial that has been placed
there. Peggy's Cove is a beautiful little town with one of my favorite light
houses...
With so many
tourists walking around it wasn't easy to get a shot of the lighthouse without
peeps in the picture. I had to lay down in the rocks to get this
shot.

September 2nd
VJ Day
General Douglas MacArthur:
General MacArthur signed the treaty first, next the representatives of
Japan
and then from around the world:
Celebrations started August 14th...
August 14th - Japan surrenders
August 15th - Surrender announced to the world
September 2 - Ceremony and formal signing of surrender
VJ Day marks the end of
WWII, and the cessation of fighting against Japan. It is called "Victory In
Japan Day or "Victory Over Japan Day".
The confusion over three dates:
There is some confusion over what date is V-J Day. You can consider any (or
all) of three dates as V-J Day. President Harry S. Truman caused some of this
confusion........
On August 14, 1945, the Japanese government cabled to the U.S. their
surrender. This is the date of most modern observances.
On August 15, 1945, news of the surrender was announced to the world. This
sparked spontaneous celebrations over the final ending of World War II.
On September 2, 1945, a formal surrender ceremony was held in Tokyo Bay
aboard the USS Missouri. At the time, President Truman declared September 2 to
be VJ Day.
Regardless of which day you view as VJ Day, World War II was finally
over.

Happy birthday to Sue, Happy birthday to Sue,on a very historic day too!! Love ya KID, p.j.
I just loved the video of the babies and dogs! I love hearing the babies giggle. I was concerned at that one baby who kept taking the dog dish away from the eating dog. That's always a no no. Thankfully the dog was good natured about it.
I just the other day saw on a friends FB page a huge statue of that sailor kissing the nurse. Love it!
You are in good company with people born on this day. HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY GIRLFRIEND!!
HUGS!! XOXO Trisha
