Good 43º clear sunny morning. Predictions:
I don't believe it~! But since I will probably be out there mowing, it
might!
Saw this odd cloud formation about 7:30am yesterday...
Yesterday I had a lousy morning. First of all Bruiser takes off at 6am. He
doesn't come back til 10am. In the meantime, Dude wouldn't eat because Bruiser
wasn't here! Sigh.... When the Bruise was back and I fed him, THEN Dude ate his
breakfast! Dude acts scared of the Bruise most of the time, that is why it's strange he won't eat when he's not here. Maybe he worries about the little guy like I do!
Dave came to brush-hog about 10am. He worked til 4pm. Both the upper
pastures were finished. All done now except for a bit of weed-eating.
While he did the brush-hogging, Dude and the Bruise sat on the porch...
Dude was just being cute and the Bruise was on the stack of old chairs watching
the birds come and go from the birdhouses ... and drooling!
The deer showed up, jumped the fence into the pasture, and then heard the
tractor.... off they ran!

Pack Rat Day
(I do NOT agree with the following....)
Today
is Pack Rat Day. 'Cmon, admit
it... .. you're a Pack Rat like the rest of us. If you are a Pack Rat, you're in
good company. You might as well come out of hiding behind those piles of
valuable "stuff", and celebrate this fun day.
Its
really easy to let things pile up. After all, each item you acquire along the
road of life may have value or serve some meaningful purpose. 'Ya just never
know. Making the decision to discard something of even remotely questionable
value, is difficult, if not impossible to do. We understand you perfectly. Why?
Because most of us are pack rats.
In
keeping with the intent of Pack Rat
Day, here are some Do's and Don't's:
- Don't clean your room, basement, garage or any other area today.
- Don't discard anything today...It may be valuable.
- Don't even empty the trash today. You might have accidentally thrown out something useful.
- Do keep an eye out for useful stuff being discarded by others.
- Do go to garage and rummage sales. They can be pack rat gold mines.
- Do look around your belongings and be thankful for what you have.
- Do spend time thinking of uses for your things. Justification for saving is satisfying.
This is not good and I do admit I save things,
but my home is not a pack rat mess like the above! That is disgusting. I would
suggest that since it's Pack Rat Day, CLEAN OUT SOMETHING!!!!!!

Sue, I so agree with you re the pack rat house. That pic looks pretty neat compared to the hoarder shows I've seen! I have watched some that have given me nightmares afterwards. I have always been pretty much a neat freak but as I have gotten older I have learned to relax a bit. I just feel good when things are neat and orderly around me.
With that being said, I rarely throw away any of my clothes! I have clothes stored in three closets in the house and in five suitcases for the out of season clothes. (Yesterday a friend told me she had heard or read that I am the best dressed person in Dimond Bar. teehee OK then!)
I thought it was amazing that Dude won't eat until Bruiser gets back. He is worried too and loves that little scary guy. :)

Hoarding is a frightening disease. I cannot imagine just having a path through the house with all that stuff stacked everywhere! YIKES! I don't understand how the spouses can stand it.
Interesting blog. Always is. I am glad to more collector than hoarder. But it is funny to think when we bought this house there was a room for every piece of furniture we owned....now it is full.
It is my observation that hoarding is frequently preceded by great loss or fear of something. Such as when you can't have the person- you keep their things. As the person heals- they let go- and find it a relief to have space to remember the good times without so much burden from the past.
The hoarders I've known, have never let go! Hoarded til their own death!
