Good 50º cloudy morning...
I received this video of an interview with John Wayne from Bill Postmus
(LASD ret) ... so interesting. Done in 1976 on his boat the Wild Goose.
My friend Sid Hackle (LASD Reserve Capt at BC Range Co) was a friend of The
Duke's and went fishing with him on his boat and dove hunting with him in
Mexico. He said Wayne loved tequila and Latin women! My husband was going to be
named John Wayne Maxwell by his mom, but his dad put a stop to that and named
him Jerry Wayne Maxwell! He loved The Duke like I did. Sid's brother was Wayne's
official photographer and gave us this photo of him smoking one of Sid's
cigars....
John Wayne was born Marion Robert Morrison. His name was changed when his
brother was born because they wanted to name his brother Robert, so The Duke's
middle name was changed to Michael. Wayne was nicknamed 'Duke' after his pet
dog. The name stuck even after he became a celebrity. The Morrison's are part of
my mother's family.... so I'm probably distantly related! He died in 1979 from
lung cancer. He was a HEAVY smoker! Sad.
Here is his "last hurrah" on the Oscars in 1979 (the dates on the video refer to the "Oscar Year" which is the year prior to the Oscars...

Can you believe this list of companies bought by China....
IBM, Hallmark, AMC Theaters, Smithfield Ham...
.....and companies they bought huge shares in...
Morgan Stanley, BofA, Apple, Coca-Cola, Johnson & Johnson, Motorola,
Visa....
SHEESH... and on top of that they are buying up all the gold they can,
without making it known so the price stays down. They have acquired 400,000
billion in gold buy buying it from anywhere they can and buying up gold mines
worldwide. China wants to control the world money. Something the US dollar and
the Euro have done for a long time. They will devalue our money. We are going to
be hit HARD!!!

Ok, so yesterday I posted my recipe for Artichoke Tomato
Alfredo... today is
Sue's Broccoli Shrimp Alfredo
1/2 of a 12oz pkg of extra wide egg noodles - cooked,
drained (or your favorite pasta)
4 cups broccoli flowerettes - steamed until aldenté - salt
prior to steaming and keep pan vented so they don't lose their
color.
2 cans sliced mushrooms (or fresh)
1/2 pound cooked medium size shrimp
1 jar Alfredo sauce
(or any Campbell's Soup, such as cheese, broccoli cheese, or
the Southwestern flavors or cream of shrimp .. mushroom.. etc. and a bout half
the can of milk if you are using soup)
Steam broccoli and drain. In large frying pan put about 2T
olive oil and heat to medium high. Add the cooked noodles and coat well with the
oil and separate them. Add the mushrooms, shrimp, and broccoli. Stir in the
sauce (or soup and added milk). Mix well and heat through. Top with grated
Parmesan.
All I know. Nuff said. Happy HUMP Day. Ciao.

Multiple
Personality Day
This
is an opportunity to get in touch with yourselves.
Someone
with a split personality has two personalities. Someone with multiple
personalities has more than two personalities. Its a psychological disorder
that we hope none of our readers have.
Don't
be surprised to find yourself surrounded by people who are talking to themselves
today. You might find yourself talking to yourself, too!
When
you wish someone "Happy Multiple Personality Day", you may need to do so
multiple times, once for each
personality.

Since we are talking about John Wayne....John went to Loyola High School in L.A. with Patrick Wayne. Pat was a bit older than my John. I assume they were Catholic since it's a Catholic high school.
We saw The Wild Goose when we were out on a yacht for a fundraising harbor cruise. I felt a bit sad watching it go by thinking about John Wayne.
Your alfredo dish sure set my mouth to watering! I love that stuff, especially with shrimp!
