Philippines Typhoon ~ USMC Birthday ~ Brad's Fox ~ Chicken/Veggie Crockpot Soup

Good 41º very foggy morning. Cloudy til Tuesday and then a "chance" of rain.

My step-son Aaron's wife Marie is from the Philippines. Her family is all there. Worried, I talked to Marie last night.  She told me the family all lives in a mountainous valley away from the coast and they are all OK! Yes!
Such tragedy, the worst typhoon to reach land and the estimate of death is 10,000 already.

Unbelievable. Prayers for those people.

....and yes, Virginia, foxes can climb trees!

Dinner was the leftover stir-fry veggies

and the rice (added in another 1/2 cup of raw rice) made into a soup. I put them in the crockpot along with a carton and a half of chicken stock. Added in chives, garlic, bacon salt, and ground pepper. Then added in a bunch of broccoli and some previously cooked chicken thighs. Let it cook on low for a couple hours. Then added in the Philly Cooking Cream.... some American cheese and some mozzarella cheese. OMGOOD!!!!!

Hoo-rah! My favorite cousin growing up was a US Marine. To a little girl, he was larger than life. I admire those who serve- and those brave enough to love them. There is no way us beneficiaries of your devotion and sacrifice can ever pay you back.

May God watch over the survivors in the Philippines. The poverty before- and now- may we never take our blessings here for granted. We are here but for the Grace of God.
