Quail ~ Queen ~ Boudin ~ Biscuits

Good 42º high clouds morning. Supposed to stay cloudy today with a chance of rain tomorrow. Yesterday was a "no spraying day" with 25 mph wind gusts! Windy all day. Howling wind.

Yesterday I heard this quail calling...
and sitting in the grapevines .....
Their call is odd sounding.... go to this site, scroll down to the 'calls' and listen to the first one... that is what he sounded like...

Thought this so funny. Queen Elizabeth getting a laugh as her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, stands guard outside Buckingham Palace......

Interesting yesterday.. I had ordered a "Mom's Day" breakfast package for Kristen from Boudin Bakery
in San Francisco.

It was on a "2 day shipping" by FedEx. It was to be delivered on Friday. I checked the tracking number after Kristen didn't say anything about receiving a package. Sure enough the stupid FedEx driver said at 6:30pm an attempt was made to deliver but the school was closed. DUH! It's a school!!! So I wrote Boudin and told them of my frustration. They called me yesterday and apologized, said they were going to contact FedEx, and Kristen would get the shipment yesterday as well as another shipment of "fresh breads" and an apology from Boudin on this coming Friday. Nice. Glad they did that. Good company and I'm happy now. EXCEPT that Kristen never received the package yesterday~! FedEX you are on my LIST!

Historically this date....
1939Lina Medina becomes the youngest confirmed mother in medical history at the age of five.
...........WHAT? So so wrong on so many levels.

1948Israel is declared to be an independent state and a provisional government is established. Immediately after the declaration, Israel is attacked by the neighboring Arab states, triggering the 1948 Arab-Israeli War.

1961American civil rights movement: The Freedom Riders bus is fire-bombed near Anniston, Alabama, and the civil rights protesters are beaten by an angry mob.

1973Skylab, the United States' first space station, is launched.

And births this date include...
1936Bobby Darin, American singer-songwriter and actor (d. 1973)

1944 – George Lucas, American director

1984 – Mark Zuckerberg, American computer programmer and internet entrepreneur, co-founder of Facebook

All I know. Happy Tuesday. Nuff said. Ciao.

Sue,

I was horrified reading the article about the five year old mother! Imagine!! Too bad they didn't have DNA tests back then so they could have kept the bastard in jail who was the father of her child! I wonder if she isn't the only one that this happened to.

mmmm Biscuits and gravy! What great comfort food!

XO Trisha
p.s. Hope Kristin gets her bread before mold sets in! :(

Suprised there was no Gnome photo today. You could have photoshoped him in next to the Duke

What a fortuitous day in history.

LOVE quail. We hatched some hoping they would replace the ones the neighborhood cats ate out of the canyon. Maybe we should try again.
